The most common altitude-related symptom, high-altitude headache (HAH), has recently been suggested to originate from restricted cerebral venous drainage in the presence of increased inflow caused by hypoxia. In support of this novel hypothesis, retinal venous distension was shown to correlate with the degree of HAH. We quantified for the first time retinal vessel diameter changes at 4559 m using infrared fundus images obtained from a state of the art Spectralis™ HRA+OCT with a semiautomatic VesselMap 1® software. High-altitude exposure resulted in altered arterial and venous diameter changes at high altitude, however, independent of headache burden.

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is an emerging, non-invasive technique increasingly utilized for retinal vasculature imaging. Analysis of OCTA images can effectively diagnose retinal diseases, unfortunately, complex vascular structures within OCTA images possess significant challenges for automated segmentation. A novel, fully convolutional dense connected residual network is proposed to effectively segment the vascular regions within OCTA images.

Background: This study aims to compare the posterior ocular structure parameters in children with migraine without aura (MWA), tension-type headache (TTH), and a healthy control group.
Methods: The study included 31 patients with MWA, 29 patients with TTH, and 38 healthy controls between 6 and 18 years of age. For all participants, the detailed eye examination and measurements including peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) thickness, central macular thickness (CMT), subfoveal choroidal thickness (SCT), macular vessel densities and foveal avascular zone (FAZ) parameters measured by optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT-angiography (OCTA), were obtained from the patient files.

Purpose: To describe a patient with Coats disease with an atypical presentation of neovascular glaucoma and vitreous hemorrhage.
Observations: A 15-year-old male presented with five days of pain, redness, and swelling and was found to have neovascular glaucoma in his right eye. Further evaluation revealed Coats disease stage 3AI with a subtotal exudative retinal detachment inferiorly, telangiectatic vessels, and vitreous hemorrhage.
