Fifteen cases of chyluria were diagnosed by Sudan staining test and the sides of chylous reflux were determined by cystoscopy. All patients underwent the modified laparoscopic technique. The operations had been successfully without unexpected injury. The postoperative urine chyle tests were negative in all patients. Recurrence developed in 1 patient during the follow-up. The modified technique does not require complete disconnection of perirenal fat tissue and fasciectomy diminishing necessity of nephropexy and preventing renal torsion. It is a feasible and effective surgical procedure for chyluria with a short operation time, minimal invasion and few complications.

Introduction: This study aimed to identify predictive factors for long-term incomplete nidus obliteration following stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs).

Material And Methods: A systematic search across the PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus databases identified observational studies reporting such factors. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were followed.

Femtosecond laser-ablative aqueous synthesis of multi-drug antiviral nanoparticles.

Nanomedicine (Lond)

March 2025

Department of Chemistry and The Institute for Laser, Photonics, and Biophotonics, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, Buffalo, NY, USA.

Background: Nanomedicine offers a number of innovative strategies to address major public health burdens, including complex respiratory illnesses. In this work, we introduce a multi-drug nanoparticle fabricated using femtosecond laser ablation for the treatment of influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and their co-infections.

Methods: The SARS-CoV-2 antiviral, remdesivir; the influenza antiviral, baloxavir marboxil; and the anti-inflammatory, dexamethasone, were co-crystalized and then ablated in aqueous media using a femtosecond pulsed laser and subsequently surface modified with the cationic polymer, chitosan, or poly-d-lysine.

Aims: To examine the risk of perinatal mental illness, including new diagnoses and recurrent use of mental healthcare, comparing women with and without traumatic brain injury (TBI), and to identify injury-related factors associated with these outcomes among women with TBI.

Methods: We conducted a population-based cohort study in Ontario, Canada, of all obstetrical deliveries to women in 2012-2021, excluding those with mental healthcare use in the year before conception. The cohort was stratified into women with no remote mental illness history (to identify new mental illness diagnoses between conception and 365 days postpartum) and those with a remote mental illness history (to identify recurrent illnesses).

Background: Modified rapid sequence intubation (RSI) is crucial in emergency surgery, particularly for patients with a full stomach, as it allows for the administration of general anesthesia (GA).

Objectives: This work aimed to evaluate mivacurium effectiveness and optimal dose in modified RSI.

Methods: This randomized double-blind study involved 100 patients, aged between 20 - 60 years, of both sexes, with the American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status classification of I - III, who were undergoing emergency surgery under GA.

Introduction: Nondestructive quantification of leaf chlorophyll content (LCC) of banana and its spatial distribution across growth stages from remotely sensed data provide an effective avenue to diagnose nutritional deficiency and guide management practices. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) hyperspectral imagery can document abundant texture features (TFs) and spectral information in a field experiment due to the high spatial and spectral resolutions. However, the benefits of using the fine spatial resolution accessible from UAV data for estimating LCC for banana have not been adequately quantified.
