A study was conducted of the relationships among neuroprotective factors and cytokines in brain tissue of mice at different ages that were examined on the effect of dietary restriction on protection after experimentally induced brain stroke. It was of interest to assess whether the cross-product of the slopes of pairs of variables vs. age was positive or negative. To accomplish this, the product of the slopes was estimated and tested to determine if it is significantly different from zero. Since the measurements are taken on the same animals, the models used must account for the non-independence of the measurements within animals. A number of approaches are illustrated. First a multivariate multiple regression model is employed. Since we are interested in a nonlinear function of the parameters (the product) the delta method is used to obtain the standard error of the estimate of the product. Second, a linear mixed-effects model is fit that allows for the specification of an appropriate correlation structure among repeated measurements. The delta method is again used to obtain the standard error. Finally, a non-linear mixed-effects approach is taken to fit the linear-mixed-effects model and conduct the test. A simulation study investigates the properties of the procedure.

An open-source geodatabase and its associate WebGIS platform (CONNECTOSED) were developed to collect and utilize data for the Sediment Flow Connectivity Index (SfCI) for the Apulia region of southern Italy. Maps depicting sediment mobility and connectivity across the hydrographic basins of the Apulia region were generated and stored in the geodatabase. This geodatabase is organized into folders containing data in TIFF, shapefile, Jpeg and Pdf formats, including input variables (digital elevation model, land cover map, rainfall map, and soil units dataset for each hydrographic basin), classification graphs (ranking of variable values), dimensionless index maps (slope, ruggedness, rainfall, land cover, and soil stability) and key products (maps of sediment mobility, SfCI, and applied SfCI).

Improving the alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) efficiency is essential for developing advanced anion exchange membrane water electrolyzers (AEMWEs) that operate at industrial ampere-level currents. Herein, we employ density functional theory (DFT) calculations to identify Ni-RuO2 as the leading candidate among various 3d transition metal-doped M-RuO2 (where metal M includes Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn). The incorporation of Ni atoms facilitates the partial reduction of RuO2, resulting in the formation of a Ni-Ru/RuO2 interface having a significant built-in electric field (BIEF) during electrochemical reactions.

Carbonization (Argon atmosphere, 900 °C, 2 h) of heteroatom-enriched pyridine-bridged inorganic-organic hybrid material (HPHM) resulted in the formation of a high specific surface area (SA of 1080 m g) carbonaceous material designated as HPHMC900. The HPHMC900 serves as an effective electrocatalyst for the reduction of nitrate in an aqueous environment to ammonia (NORR). Importantly, HPHMC900 demonstrated fast kinetics for the NORR with a low Tafel slope of 70 mV decade.

Soil erosion susceptibility maps and raster dataset for the hydrological basins of North Africa.

Soil erosion in North Africa modulates agricultural and urban developments as well as the impacts of flash floods. Existing investigations and associated datasets are mainly performed in localized urban areas, often representing a limited part of a watershed. The above compromises the implementation of mitigation measures for this vast area under accentuating extremes and continuous hydroclimatic fluctuations.

For hepatobiliary scintigraphy, the radiopharmaceutical drug, ETIFENIN (TECHIDA®), labelled with technetium-99m, is used as a substitute for MEBROFENIN (CHOLEDIAM®). It is generally accepted that radiopharmaceuticals should be checked prior to injection, in particular by determining radiochemical purity, to ensure high-quality images. Radiochromatographic techniques or methods described in the Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC) and the European Pharmacopeia (Ph.
