Background: Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is an immunologic syndrome characterized by excessive inflammation and tissue injury due to uncontrolled activation of the phagocytic system. The underlying mechanism is a lack of downregulation of activated macrophages and lymphocytes by natural killer and T cells. Unfortunately, the diagnosis is often delayed or missed due to the rarity of the disease, decreased awareness, and clinical picture variability.

Background/objectives: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a multifactorial disease where the inflammatory state is crucial. This study analyzes the association of the IL-1RN (rs2234663) and IL-1β (rs1143627, rs16944) variants and IL-1β levels with CRC.

Neutrophilic urticarial dermatosis (NUD) is an uncommon and not well understood disease. We report a 24-year-old female with persistent present with pruritic and painful urticarial plaques unresponsive to convential treatment. Histopathologically, it demonstrates a perivascular and interstitial neutrophilic infiltrate with leukocytoclasia without evidence of vasculitis or dermal edema consistent with neutrophilic urticarial dermatosis.
