The first crystalline microporous zirconium phosphonate metal-organic framework (UPG-1) was synthesized using the novel tritopic ligand 2,4,6-tris(4-(phosphonomethyl)phenyl)-1,3,5-triazine. Its crystal structure was solved ab initio from laboratory powder X-ray diffraction data. UPG-1 displays remarkable thermal stability and hydrolysis resistance and has a good absorption affinity towards n-butane and CO2.

Tumor hypoxia significantly limits the effectiveness of radiotherapy, as oxygen is crucial for producing cancer-killing reactive oxygen species. To address this, we synthesized nanosized faujasite (PBS-Na-FAU) zeolite crystals using clinical-grade phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) as the solvent, ensuring preserved crystallinity, microporous volume, and colloidal stability. The zeolite nanocrystals showed enhanced safety profiles and , and studies showed no apparent toxicity to animals.

Figure-eight macrocycles represent a fascinating class of π-conjugated units characterized by unique aesthetics and non-contact molecular crossing at the center. Despite progress in synthesis over the past century, research into inorganic, organic, and polymeric figure-eight materials remains in its infancy. Here we report the first examples of figure-eight covalent organic frameworks by condensing figure-eight knots to create extended porous figure-eight π architectures.

The development of efficient immobilization support for the enhancement of enzyme activity and recyclability is a highly desirable objective. Single-crystalline ordered macro-microporous ZIF-8 (SOM-ZIF-8), has emerged as a highly effective matrix for enzyme immobilization, however, the inherent hydrophobic nature limits its further advancement. Herein, we have customized the immobilization of the Pseudomonas cepacia lipase (LP) in the modification-channels of SOM-ZIF-8 by functionalizing the inner surface-properties with polyethylene glycol (PEG) (LP@SOM-ZIF-8-PEG), and significant enhancement of the activity and (thermal, solvent and cyclic) stability can be realized.

Layered double hydroxides (LDH) are compounds with unique structures of hydroxide functional groups on their surfaces, and they have the proper arrangement of divalent and trivalent cations to adjust their unique catalytic actions. LDH was synthesized utilizing the co-precipitation technique and was thermally treated at 300 °C. The prepared compounds were chemically and structurally elucidated using FT-IR, XRD, SEM, BET, TG-DTA, and XPS characterization.
