We design, fabricate and experimentally demonstrate a highly efficient adiabatic mode converter for coupling light into a silicon slot waveguide with a slot width as large as 320 nm. This strip-to-slot mode converter is optimized to provide a measured insertion loss as low as 0.08 dB. Our mode converter provides 0.1 dB lower loss compared to a conventional V-shape mode converter. This mode converter is used to couple light into and out of a 320 nm slot photonic crystal waveguide, and it is experimentally shown to improve the coupling efficiency up to 3.5 dB compared to the V-shape mode converter, over the slow-light wavelength region.

Multiport converters are the most reliable and integral component for latest renewable source integration with multiple inputs. This article is one among the kind, which proposes a novel Coupled Inductor based Four Port topology Multiport Converter (CI-FP-MPC) for integrating multiple PV sources with different voltages. The adoption of coupled inductor contributes an increased voltage gain with reduced stress on the switches and diodes.

Accurately analyzing the type of land use and change characteristics of disaster damage in landslide areas is of great significance to scientifically promote the optimization of regional land use pattern and disaster prevention and mitigation. We analyzed the characteristic parameters of landslides as well as the characteristics and driving factors of land use change from 1985 to 2020 in Tongwei County, Gansu Province, using ALOS DEM data and 1985-2020 land use data, GIS spatial analysis, land-use dynamic attitude, transfer matrix, and Geodetector. The results showed that a total of 1012 landslide samples were identified, characterized by medium elevation, gentle gradient, low elevation difference, short length, and small size.

A simple and rapid analytical method was developed for the simultaneous determination of two chromium species, Cr(III) and Cr(VI), in the environmental waters by high-performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (HPLC-ICP-MS). This study incorporated a chelating pretreatment with 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (PDCA) to convert Cr(III) species into a stable Cr(III)-PDCA anion complex, which was then separated from Cr(VI) oxyanion using an anion exchange column. Building on the fundamental analytical approach proposed by Shigeta .

The vapor-phase alkylation of phenol with methanol was investigated on X zeolites and modified X zeolites. First, the difference of product distribution was tested between acid zeolite (HZSM-5, HX, HMCM-22, and Hβ) and basic zeolite X (KX and CsX). Then, X zeolites were modified with Li, K, Cs, Ca, Mg, La, and Ce ion exchange to adjust the acid-base properties of the zeolites.

Phosphor-converted micro-light emitting diodes (micro-LEDs) are a crucial technology for display applications but face significant challenges in light extraction because of the high refractive index of the blue pump die chip. In this study, we design and experimentally demonstrate a nanophotonic approach that overcomes this issue, achieving up to a 3-fold increase in light extraction efficiency. Our approach involves engineering the local density of optical states (LDOS) to generate quasi-guided modes within the phosphor layer by strategically inserting a thin low-index spacer in combination with a metasurface for mode extraction.
