Spindle cell lipoma is a histologically distinct variant of lipoma characteristically arising in the subcutis of the posterior neck, upper back, or shoulder. Spindle cell lipomas infrequently occur within the oral cavity and, in particular, rarely involve the tongue. The clinical and pathologic features of eight cases of spindle cell lipoma affecting the tongue were analyzed. The study group included five men and three women ranging in age from 35 to 80 years (mean 57.4 years). Most lesions presented as either a painless or slowly growing lingual mass. The tumors were well circumscribed and characterized microscopically by a mixture of mature adipocytes, cytologically bland spindle cells, and interspersed bundles of thick collagen fibers in variable proportions. Myxoid stroma was a prominent feature in three lesions. The spindle cells were positive with CD34, while negative with S-100 protein, desmin, and smooth muscle actin. Treatment consisted of local excision in all cases. There have been no recurrences to date, with clinical follow up information available for all patients (range 11-118 months; mean 50.8 months). Lingual examples of spindle cell lipoma should be distinguished from other fat containing spindle cell neoplasms that can arise at this anatomic site.

The EWSR1::CREM rearranged intra-abdominal malignant epithelioid neoplasm is an emerging tumor, with only a few publications describing it to date. Here, we report two new cases of this highly aggressive tumor, primarily involving the peritoneal surface. The tumors presented as a widespread diffuse peritoneal lesion associated with a 4-cm pelvic mass in a 28-year-old woman (Case 1) and as a 10-cm intra-abdominal mass infiltrating the stomach with multiple hepatic metastases in a 53-year-old woman (Case 2).

rearranged mesenchymal tumors are a recently described subset of soft tissue tumors, characterised by a or gene fusion and by distinctive morphological features. They show a circumscribed, multi-nodular growth pattern with bland spindle cells in a myxo-collagenous stroma, surrounded by staghorn-like vessels with perivascular hyalinization. First described by Lacambra et al in 2019, they were originally named -rearranged fibroblastic tumors.

Case Report: A 42-year-old woman presented with a painless, submucosal nodule in the tongue. Based on the clinical hypothesis of benign mesenchymal neoplasia, the lesion was excised, and the specimen was submitted for histopathological analysis.

Accurate chromosome segregation in mitosis depends on proper connections of sister chromatids, through microtubules, to the opposite poles of the early mitotic spindle. Transiently, many inaccurate connections are formed and rapidly corrected throughout the mitotic stages, but a small number of merotelic connections, in which a chromatid is connected to both spindle poles, remain lagging at the spindle's equator in anaphase. Most of the lagging chromatids are eventually moved to one or the other pole, likely by a combination of microtubules' turnover and the brute force of pulling by the microtubules' majority from the one pole against the microtubules' minority from the other pole.
