Resolving phylogenetic conflicts in Pandanales: the dual roles of gene flow and whole-genome duplication.

State Key Laboratory of Efficient Production of Forest Resources, Beijing Forestry University, Beijing, China.

Introduction: Accurate phylogenetic reconstruction is crucial for understanding evolutionary relationships and biodiversity. Despite advances in molecular systematics, the relationships within Pandanales-which include Cyclanthaceae, Pandanaceae, Stemonaceae, Triuridaceae, and Velloziaceae-remain unresolved. This study aims to clarify these relationships by analyzing transcriptomic and genomic data from these families.

Background: Diabetes mellitus has emerged as a global health crisis, with its prevalence escalating dramatically. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) stands out as one of the most frequent complications, leading to significant morbidity, including foot ulcers and amputations, if not identified and managed promptly. Effective screening methods are essential for early detection, which can significantly improve patient outcomes and reduce the risk of severe complications.

In 1939 London and Bauer published a 'little book' that shaped the debate over the role of consciousness in resolving the measurement problem in quantum mechanics. Mistakenly understood as merely summarising von Neumann's account, both sides in the debate failed to appreciate its phenomenological underpinnings. London not only originally studied phenomenology but continued thinking about and discussing this approach in the years leading up to the publication of his work with Bauer, most notably with Gurwitsch, who likewise had a dual background in phenomenological philosophy and physics.

Introduction: Eliminating acute malnutrition in children under 5 years of age stands as a critical health priority outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2, 'Zero Hunger'. This requires targeted provision of treatment and preventative services. However, accurately forecasting future prevalence of cases remains challenging, with the application of predictive models being notably scarce.
