Here we report on a combined experimental and theoretical study on the structural and electronic properties of a monolayer of Copper-Phthalocyanine (CuPc) on the Au(1 1 0) surface. Low-energy electron diffraction reveals a commensurate overlayer unit cell containing one adsorbate species. The azimuthal alignment of the CuPc molecule is revealed by comparing experimental constant binding energy ( )-maps using angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy with theoretical momentum maps of the free molecule's highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO). This structural information is confirmed by total energy calculations within the framework of van-der-Waals corrected density functional theory. The electronic structure is further analyzed by computing the molecule-projected density of states, using both a semi-local and a hybrid exchange-correlation functional. In agreement with experiment, the HOMO is located about 1.2 eV below the Fermi-level, while there is no significant charge transfer into the molecule and the CuPc LUMO remains unoccupied on the Au(1 1 0) surface.

The traditional method is capable of detecting and tracking stationary and slow-moving targets in a sea surface environment. However, the signal focusing capability of such a method could be greatly reduced especially for those variable-speed targets. To solve this problem, a novel tracking algorithm combining range envelope alignment and azimuth phase filtering is proposed.

In advanced driver-assistance systems (ADASs), the misalignment of the mounting angle of the automotive radar significantly affects the accuracy of object detection and tracking, impacting system safety and performance. This paper introduces the Automotive Radar Alignment Detection Network (AutoRAD-Net), a novel model that leverages complex-valued convolutional neural network (CV-CNN) to address azimuth misalignment challenges in automotive radars. By utilizing complex-valued inputs, AutoRAD-Net effectively learns the physical properties of the radar data, enabling precise azimuth alignment.

The technique utilizes a composite polarized vortex beam interacting with the wave plate under test. By analyzing the azimuth angle of the dark fringe in the interference pattern, the wave plate's characteristics are accurately extracted.

The future of next-generation electronics relies on low-cost organic semiconductors that are tailored to simultaneously provide all requisite optoelectronic properties, focusing greatly on ambipolar charge-transport and solution processability. In this regard, room-temperature discotic liquid crystals (DLCs) are potential candidates, where quasi-1D self-assembly affords a charge-transport channel along their columnar axis. This work shows a molecular design strategy by utilizing anthraquinone as the primary motif, surrounded by ester functionalized tri-alkoxy phenyl units to develop room-temperature DLCs (1.

Blue phase liquid crystals (BPLCs) are chiral self-assembled three-dimensional (3D) periodic structures which have attracted a lot of attention due to their electro-optical properties, relevant for tunable soft photonic crystals and fast-response displays. However, to realize this application potential, controlling the BPLC alignment at the surfaces is crucial, and one way to obtain the desired alignment is by photoalignment patterning. In this article, monodomain BPLC samples with controlled orientation are achieved by imposing different alignment patterns that have a periodicity that is compatible with the size of the BPLC unit cell, using two-step photoalignment with polarized ultraviolet (UV) light.
