Proteomics and metabolomics are emerging in recent years as one of the most challenging topics in neonatology. They are characterized by a large amount of data that reflect the complexity of all biological systems more accurately than traditional methods utilized in clinical chemistry. In this review paper we present the modifications of the salivary proteome, which represents an easy and non-invasive method that offers the opportunity to investigate changes in the metabolism of preterm infants and in pediatric patients. Moreover, we present the metabolomics-histologic correlations in newborn piglets at baseline and following normocapnic hypoxia and reoxygenation. A new method of data analysis, here summarized as the "triple-I" approach will be finally discussed: interdisciplinary, intersectorial, interactive.

Hepatitis C virus is a single-stranded RNA based virus which can cause chronic HCV and hepatocellular carcinoma. HCV genotype 3a has relatively higher rate of fibrosis progression, prevalence of steatosis and incidence of HCC. Despite HCVs variation in genomic sequence, the 5' untranslated region containing internal ribosome entry site (IRES) is highly conserved among all genotypes.

We conducted a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network study searching for proteins relevant to pregnancy-associated COVID-19 in pregnancy complicated with severe preeclampsia (sPE) and intra-amniotic infection and/or inflammation (Triple-I). PPI networks from sPE and Triple-I were intersected with the PPI network from coronavirus infection. Common proteins included the SARS-CoV-2 entry receptor ACE2 and ENDOU, a placental endoribonuclease homologous to Nsp15, a protein produced by the virus to escape host immunity.

Background: Current health systems do not effectively address all aspects of chronic care. For better self-management of disease, kidney patients have identified the need for improved health care information, interaction with health care providers, and individualization of care.
Objective: The Triple I study examined challenges to exchange of between patients and health care providers and of care in in-center hemodialysis with the aim of identifying the top 10 challenges that individuals on in-center hemodialysis face in these 3 areas.

Purpose: Core and supplemental drug information databases available for use with personal digital assistants (PDAs) were evaluated.
Methods: Ten core (or standalone) databases, six drug interaction analyzers, and three dietary supplement databases used with the Palm and Pocket PC operating systems were selected for study. The databases were rated for scope (the absence or presence of an answer to a drug information question), completeness (the comprehensiveness of an answer), and ease of use (the number of hypertext links needed to reach the desired answer).
