The authors examined whether the wrist and elbow were perceived as flexed when a stick was fixed to the hand while the joints were extended during anesthesia. Ten healthy participants lay on their back on a bed with their eyes closed, and a stick was fixed to their right hand. Surprisingly, while the perceived position of the wrist and elbow moved toward flexion from 10 to 40 min after the ischemic block, the stick fixed to the hand was also perceived as having moved toward flexion from 10 to 20 min after the block. Such coupling the change in the perceived stick position with the change in body image suggests a new type of hand-object illusion.

Purpose: and background: Neuroimaging studies have increasingly found functional connectivity (FC) changes and structural cortical abnormalities in patients with post-traumatic anosmia (PTA). Training and repeated exposure to odorants lead to enhanced olfactory capability. This study is conducted to investigate the correlations between FC and cortical thickness on the olfaction-related regions of the brain in PTA after olfactory training (OT).

UWB positioning systems offer innovative solutions for precision monitoring dairy cow behaviour and social dynamics, yet their performance in complex commercial barn environments requires thorough validation. This study evaluated the TrackLab 2.13 (Noldus) UWB system in a dairy barn housing 44-49 cows.

A lattice-based model for continuum percolation is applied to the case of randomly located, partially aligned sticks with unequal lengths in 2D which are allowed to cross each other. Results are obtained for the critical number of sticks per unit area at the percolation threshold in terms of the distributions over length and orientational angle and are compared with findings from computer simulations. Consistent with findings from computer simulations, our model shows that the percolation threshold is (i) elevated by increasing degrees of alignment for a fixed length distribution, and (ii) lowered by increasing degrees of length dispersity for a fixed orientational distribution.

Existing Masked Image Modeling methods apply fixed mask patterns to guide the self-supervised training. As those mask patterns resort to different criteria to depict image contents, sticking to a fixed pattern leads to a limited vision cues modeling capability. This paper introduces an evolved hierarchical masking method to pursue general visual cues modeling in self-supervised learning.

The development of an affordable chemiresistive biosensor enhanced with a multi-walled carbon nanotube-zinc oxide (MWCNT-ZnO) nanofiber composite is presented. The sensor leverages the precise interaction between lipoarabinomannan (LAM) tuberculosis (TB) antigens and antibodies to achieve high sensitivity and specificity. The MWCNT-ZnO nanofibers have a larger surface area and better electrical conductivity, which makes it easier for TB antibodies to stick to them.
