Spiritual care is a critical component of hospice and palliative medicine; however, physicians frequently lack the necessary competencies to adequately address patients' spiritual needs. This study aims to examine the spiritual care competencies of physicians as reflected in their care notes, thereby providing insights into their approaches for managing spiritual distress. A narrative inquiry approach was employed to qualitatively analyze interaction notes from 30 palliative care patients experiencing spiritual distress.

Background: The Gratitude at Work Scale, originally developed by American scholars, has been widely administered to mental health professionals and human service workers to explore gratitude in the workplace. No Chinese-language instrument is currently available for assessing workplace gratitude.
Purposes: The aims of this study were to (a) translate the original English version of the Gratitude at Work Scale into a traditional Chinese version (TC-GAWS), confirm its factor structure, and analyze its psychometric properties among newly employed nurses and (b) develop and evaluate the psychometric properties of the TC-GAWS short form.

This paper is an exploration of gratitude as a fundamental concept in psychoanalysis. Melanie Klein's classic article "Envy and Gratitude" (1957) named gratitude at one pole on an axis of human suffering and flourishing, but with a few notable exceptions, the article stimulated research into envy. This paper explores the historical and philosophical traditions that have, to some extent unconsciously, influenced our contemporary understandings of gratitude.
