The transport properties of edge dislocations comprising a symmetrical 6° [001] tilt grain boundary in weakly acceptor-doped SrTiO3 were investigated by means of various experimental and computational techniques. Oxygen transport along the dislocation array was probed by means of (18)O/(16)O exchange experiments under (standard) oxidising conditions (pO2 = 5 × 10(-1) bar) and also under reducing conditions (pO2 = 7 × 10(-22) bar) at T = 973 K. In both cases, isotope profiles obtained by Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) indicated no evidence of fast diffusion along the dislocation array. Charge transport across the dislocation array was probed in equilibrium electrical conductivity measurements as a function of oxygen partial pressure, 10(-23) ≤ pO2/bar ≤ 1 at temperatures of T/K = 950, 1050, 1100. A significant decrease in the conductivity of the bicrystal (relative to that of a single crystal) was observed under oxidising conditions, but not under reducing conditions. These studies were complemented by static lattice simulations employing empirical pair-potentials. The simulations predict, that the tilt boundary comprises two types of dislocation cores, that the formation of oxygen vacancies is energetically preferred at both cores relative to the bulk, and that the migration of oxygen ions along both cores is hindered relative to the bulk. Combining all results and literature reports, we present a comprehensive and consistent picture of the transport properties of dislocations in SrTiO3.

Anterior segment dysgenesis exerts its influence on a diverse array of ocular structures, encompassing the cornea, iris, ciliary body, anterior chamber and lens. We present a 20-month-old boy with bilateral corneal opacity. The visual acuity (VA) was 6/480 in both eyes.

Driven quantum materials often feature emergent topology, otherwise absent in static crystals. Dynamic bulk-boundary correspondence, encoded by nondissipative gapless modes residing near the Floquet zone center and/or boundaries, is its most prominent example. Here we show that topologically robust gapless dispersive modes appear along the grain boundaries, embedded in the interior of Floquet topological crystals, when the Floquet-Bloch band inversion occurring at a finite momentum ( ) and the Burgers vector ( ) of the constituting array of dislocations satisfy (modulo ).

Microtextured microneedles are tiny needle-like structures with micron-scale microtextures, and the drugs stored in the microtextures can be released after entering the skin to achieve the effect of precise drug delivery. In this study, the skin substitution model of Ogden's hyperelastic model and the microneedle array and microtexture models with different geometrical parameters were selected to simulate and analyse the flow of the microtexture microneedle arrays penetrating the skin by the finite-element method, and the length of the microneedles was determined to be 200 μm, the width 160 μm, and the value of the gaps was determined to be 420 μm. A four-pronged cone was chosen as the shape of microneedles, and a rectangle was chosen as the shape of the drug-carrying microneedle.

Oxide superlattices reveal a rich array of emergent properties derived from the composition modulation and the resulting lattice distortion, charge transfer, and symmetry reduction that occur at the interfaces between the layers. The great majority of studies have focused on perovskite oxide superlattices, revealing, for example, the appearance of an interfacial 2D electron gas, magnetic moment, or improper ferroelectric polarization that is not present in the parent phases. Garnets possess greater structural complexity than perovskites: the cubic garnet unit cell contains 160 atoms with the cations distributed between three different coordination sites, and garnets exhibit a wide range of useful properties, including ferrimagnetism and ion transport.

Objective Of Surgery: The aim of this surgery is to safeguard the multifragmentary and nondisplaced talus fracture (body and neck) against secondary dislocation in a navigated and minimally invasive manner using screw osteosynthesis.
Indications: Due to the young age of the patient in the presented case and the risk of a possible secondary dislocation, the decision was made in favor of surgical treatment.
Contraindications: Soft tissue swelling, wound infections and allergies to the osteosynthesis material.
