Background: The use of mechanical circulatory support devices for high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has increased over the past decade despite limited data of benefit. We sought to examine the association between intravascular microaxial left ventricular assist device (LVAD) versus intra-aortic balloon pump use in patients without cardiogenic shock (CS) undergoing PCI.
Methods And Results: This retrospective study analyzed claims data from a large, insured population who underwent PCI without CS from April 1, 2016 to July 31, 2022.

Background: Direct mechanical ventricular actuation (DMVA) with the Anstadt cup is effective for non-blood-contacting biventricular support. Pneumatic regulation of a silicone device augments ventricular pump function. Vacuum attachment facilitates diastolic augmentation critical for biventricular support.

Objectives: To evaluate the role of shear wave elastography (SWE) in distinguishing acute from subacute thrombi in thrombosed arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) and explore the relationship between thrombus stiffness and outcomes of balloon angioplasty.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 44 dialysis patients with thrombosed AVFs from June 2022 to June 2024. Patients underwent Doppler ultrasound and SWE to assess thrombus age, followed by balloon angioplasty.

Background: Shortened door-to-balloon time (D2B) has been documented to confer cardiovascular benefits for ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI). However, prolonged myocardial ischemic duration usually negates the beneficial effects due to delayed symptom-to-door time (S2D). In this study, we sought to investigate the joint effect of S2D-D2B in predicting clinical outcomes.

Background: Newborns with transposition of the great arteries (TGA) are at risk of severe hypoxia from inadequate atrial mixing, closure of the arterial duct and/or pulmonary hypertension (PPHN). Acute maternal hyperoxygenation (AMH) might assist in identifying at-risk fetuses. We report pulmonary vasoreactivity to AMH in TGA fetuses and its relationship to early postnatal hypoxia and requirement for emergency balloon atrial septostomy (e-BAS).
