The aim of this paper was to provide the physico-chemical characterization of a key process leading to amplification of the antitumor effect of antibiotic Doxorubicin (Dox) in vivo and in vitro and occurring at the molecular level through complexation with C60 fullerene. A wide range of physico-chemical tools was used such as UV/Vis and NMR spectroscopies, atomic force microscopy, isothermal titration calorimetry and zeta-potential methods. The unusual thermodynamic behavior of the complexation process was reported, featuring unexpected and, to a certain extent, contradictory experimental observations. The explanation of the obtained results was proposed resulting in creation of a general view on aromatic drug binding with C60 fullerene. Based on these results some important practical outcomes for anticancer therapy were formulated.

The human visual nervous system excels at recognizing and processing external stimuli, essential for various physiological functions. Biomimetic visual systems leverage biological synapse properties to improve memory encoding and perception. Optoelectronic devices mimicking these synapses can enhance wearable electronics, with layered heterojunction materials being ideal materials for optoelectronic synapses due to their tunable properties and biocompatibility.

Context: The influence of fullerene C60 on the mechanical and thermal properties of natural rubber was systematically investigated using coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations. The tensile results demonstrate that systems with longer NR chains exhibit reduced tensile strength. Moreover, the addition of C60 nanoparticles significantly enhanced the mechanical properties, with Young's modulus, yield strength, and tensile strength increasing by approximately 24.

The powerful antioxidant properties of Cfullerenes have been widely used in biomedical nanotechnology. Owing to the negative effects of free radicals in oxidative stress processes, antioxidants are required to protect injured muscles. Here, the effect of water-soluble Cfullerenes (daily oral dose 1 mg kg) on the process of restoration of contractile activity of skeletal muscle of rats () 15 d after the initiation of open trauma of different severity was studied for the first time.

Medical device-associated biofilm infections continue to pose a significant challenge for public health. These infections arise from biofilm accumulation on the device, hampering the antimicrobial treatment. In response, significant efforts have been made to design functional polymeric devices that possess antimicrobial properties, limiting or preventing biofilm formation.

Traumatic skeletal muscle injury is a complex pathology caused by high-energy trauma to muscle tissue. Previously, a positive effect was established when C fullerene was administered against the background of muscle ischemia, mechanical muscle injury, and other muscle dysfunctions, which probably protected the muscle tissue from damage caused by oxidative stress. Using tensiometry and biochemical analysis, the biomechanical parameters of skeletal muscle contraction and biochemical indices of the blood of rats 15 days after traumatic injury of the soleus muscle caused by myocyte destruction by compression were studied.
