The field-gradient, superficial photo fluidization of azomaterials allows a specific 3D nano-silhouette to be shaped over a large area, so as to get easy access to a 3D-tapered, deep sub-wavelength Au nanohole (20 nm spatial size) array. The squeezing of visible light into the deep sub-wavelength point and the relevant extraordinary optical transmission (EOT) are achieved using this 3D-tapered, 20 nm Au nanohole.
Nanophotonic devices manipulate light at sub-wavelength scales, enabling tasks such as light concentration, routing, and filtering. Designing these devices to achieve precise light-matter interactions using structural parameters and materials is a challenging task. Traditionally, solving this problem has relied on computationally expensive, iterative methods.
To enhance the low-frequency sound absorption capabilities of expansion chamber mufflers, a novel Helmholtz-ring phononic crystal cell was developed. This innovative design integrates ring Helmholtz resonators as the phononic crystal scatterer, which is periodically arranged within the expansion chamber of a muffler to achieve enhanced sound attenuation at deep sub-wavelength scales. The transmission loss characteristics of the phononic crystal muffler were thoroughly examined and found to reveal a pronounced enhancement in sound absorption within the low-frequency bandgap.

Recently, angle sensors via coupled double nanowires have demonstrated prowess in attaining high-precision angle perception of incident light at sub-wavelength device scales, which may herald a novel design paradigm for ultra-compact angle sensors.
Locally resonant metamaterials (LRMs) have recently emerged in the search for lightweight noise and vibration solutions. These materials have the ability to create stop bands, which arise from the sub-wavelength addition of identical resonators to a host structure and result in strong vibration attenuation. However, their manufacturing inevitably introduces variability such that the system d often deviates significantly from the original .
Accessing the terahertz (THz) spectral domain through surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is challenging and opens up the study of low-frequency molecular and electronic excitations. Compared to direct THz probing of heterogenous ensembles, the extreme plasmonic confinement of visible light to deep sub-wavelength scales allows the study of hundreds or even single molecules. We show that self-assembled molecular monolayers of a set of simple aromatic thiols confined inside single-particle plasmonic nanocavities can be distinguished by their low-wavenumber spectral peaks below 200 cm, after removal of a bosonic inelastic contribution and an exponential background from the spectrum.
