Objectives: To measure levels of pain and iliac regeneration at the iliac crest donor site during a 10-year follow-up of graft patients.
Methods: This prospective study used a visual analogue scale (VAS) to assess pain at the donor site at 1 month and 1, 3, 5 and 10 years postoperatively. Iliac regeneration status was recorded at 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 years postoperatively by comparing plain radiographs.
Results: A total of 32 patients participated in the study. Mean VAS scores at 1 month, 1 year, 3, 5, and 10 years were 3.22, 3.39, 3.45, 2.02 and 1.38, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference between pain scores at 1 month and 1 year, but pairwise comparisons revealed significant differences between the other timepoints. The mean iliac regeneration rank scores at 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 years were 1.36, 2.22, 2.97, 3.75 and 4.70, respectively; all pairwise comparisons were statistically significant.
Conclusion: The iliac donor site showed a declining trend in pain, which appeared to have started 3 years postoperatively. Long-term follow-up showed that the ilium is readily able to repair itself.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent progenitor cells present in adult tissues that are recognized as promising candidates for cell therapy due to their ease of access, straightforward isolation, and capacity for bio-preservation with minimal loss of potency. However, the clinical application of MSCs faces significant challenges, such as donor site morbidity, underscoring the need for alternative sources. Recent studies have suggested that inferior turbinate tissues, which are commonly removed during turbinate surgery, may be a viable donor site for MSCs.

Clinical pancreatic islet xenotransplantation will most probably rely on genetically modified pigs as donors. Several lines of transgenic pigs carrying one and more often, multiple modifications already exist. The vast majority of these modifications aim to mitigate the host immune response by suppressing major xeno-antigens, or expressing immunomodulatory molecules that act locally at the graft site.

Objective: To determine consensus, using Delphi methodology, on the critical procedural steps for intravascular intrauterine transfusion (IUT) for the treatment of fetal anemia.
Methods: We conducted a two-part Delphi survey of international experts in fetal intervention. The first round of the survey proposed 32 potentially critical steps for the IUT procedure.

Pedicle ossification is a rare but significant complication following mandibular reconstruction using a fibular free flap (FFF), a technique widely employed in maxillofacial surgery due to its reliable vascularized bone supply and low donor site morbidity. The FFF supports dental implantation and prosthetic rehabilitation, with its vascularized periosteum enhancing osteogenic potential. Despite these advantages, unexpected ossification of the flap's vascular pedicle may occur, potentially mimicking tumor recurrence and causing diagnostic uncertainty.

This article presents particular occupational burn injuries resulting in a complex defect of the digits. Nine patients with exposed bone or tendon wounds on the digits were successfully treated using the pedicle adipofascial turnover flap overlaid with skin grafts. Electrical and high-temperature contact burns resulted in five and four severe cases, respectively.
