Unlabelled: Thermal transport properties of graphene with nanosized constrictions are investigated using nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations. The results show that the nanosized constrictions have a significant influence on the thermal transport properties of graphene. The thermal resistance of the nanosized constrictions is on the order of 10(7) to 10(9) K/W at 150 K, which reduces the thermal conductivity by 7.7% to 90.4%. It is also found that the constriction resistance is inversely proportional to the width of the constriction and independent of the heat current. Moreover, we developed an analytical model for the ballistic thermal resistance of the nanosized constrictions in two-dimensional nanosystems. The theoretical prediction agrees well with the simulation results in this paper, which suggests that the thermal transport across the nanosized constrictions in two-dimensional nanosystems is ballistic in nature.

The global rise of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) that increasingly invalidates conventional antibiotics has become a huge threat to human health. Although nanosized antibacterial agents have been extensively explored, they cannot sufficiently discriminate between microbes and mammals, which necessitates the exploration of other antibiotic-like candidates for clinical uses. Herein, two-dimensional boron nitride (BN) nanosheets are reported to exhibit antibiotic-like activity to AMR bacteria.

Fibrin, one of the components of the extracellular matrix (ECM), acts as a transport barrier within the core of tumors by constricting the blood vessels and forming clots, leading to poor intratumoral distribution of anticancer drugs. Our group previously developed a microplasmin-based thrombolytic ferritin nanocage that efficiently targets and dissolves clots without causing systemic fibrinolysis or disrupting hemostatic clots. We hypothesized that the thrombolytic nanocage-mediated degradation of fibrin clots in the tumor ECM can lead to enhanced intratumoral drug delivery, especially for nanosized anticancer drugs.

Electrochemical CO reduction (CORR) using renewable energy sources represents a sustainable means of producing carbon-neutral fuels. Unfortunately, low energy efficiency, poor product selectivity, and rapid deactivation are among the most intractable challenges of CORR electrocatalysts. Here, we strategically propose a "two ships in a bottle" design for ternary Zn-Ag-O catalysts, where ZnO and Ag phases are twinned to constitute an individual ultrafine nanoparticle impregnated inside nanopores of an ultrahigh-surface-area carbon matrix.

A two-phase flow computational fluid dynamic (CFD) model was developed to study the hydrodynamic forces and the protein concentration changes of a protein solution in a syringe injector. Proteins were assumed to be nanosized solid spheres commensurate with their molecular weight and suspended in an aqueous environment, passing through the rapidly constricted sections of the syringe. Interaction between the solid and the liquid phase was taken into account, and four laminar flow cases were studied under the extensional flow.

A facile approach to synthesize a polyimide (PI) film with enhanced dimensional stability, a high mechanical property and optical transparency is presented by embedding the partial imidized PI/SiC nanofiber-net in a poly(amic acid) (PAA) solution, followed by removing the solvent and imidization of the PAA. The nanofiber-network self-filled PI film demonstrates a much lower thermal expansion coefficient (CTE), an excellent mechanical property and high transparency retention in comparison to the film fabricated by solution cast. When the SiC content is 6 wt% in PI/SiC nanofibers, the CTE values for the PI film containing 25 wt% PI/SiC nanofibers are 2.
