The development of human-like brain phantom is important for data acquisition in microwave imaging. The characteristics of the phantom should be based on the real human body dielectric properties such as relative permittivity. The development of phantom includes the greymatter and whitematter regions, each with a relative permittivity of 38 and 28 respectively at 10 GHz frequency. Results were compared with the value obtained from the standard library of Computer Simulation Technology (CST) simulation application and the existing research by Fernandez and Gabriel. Our experimental results show a positive outcome, in which the proposed mixture was adequate to represent real human brain for data acquisition.

High power pulse generators are moving in the direction of compact, solid-state, and stable working in a relatively long time. In this paper, a compact pulse forming line-Marx type high power pulse generator, based on a ceramic pulse forming line and a spark gap switch with carbide modified graphite electrodes, is studied numerically and experimentally. Specifically, a ceramic based pulse forming line with high relative permittivity was used to achieve long pulse duration in a limited dimension.

We successfully synthesized perovskite-type RbTaO at 1173 K under 4 GPa. RbTaO crystalized as a cubic system (3̄ space group (SG), = 4.04108(3) Å) at 300 K in contrast to the orthorhombic perovskite-type RbNbO prepared under the same conditions.

We have found that surface superstructures made of "monolayer alloys" of Tl and Pb on Si(111), having giant Rashba effect, produce nonreciprocal spin-polarized photocurrent via circular photogalvanic effect (CPGE) by obliquely shining circularly polarized near-infrared (IR) light. CPGE is here caused by the injection of in-plane spin into spin-split surface-state bands, which is observed only on Tl-Pb alloy layers but not on single-element Tl nor Pb layers. In the Tl-Pb monolayer alloys, despite their monatomic thickness, the magnitude of CPGE is comparable to or even larger than the cases of many other spin-split thin-film materials.

An electrochemical investigation of 1,2- and 1,4-dihydroxybenzenes was carried out with platinum macro- and microelectrodes using square wave and cyclic voltammetry techniques. Furthermore, the effect of the two solvents-acetic acid and ethyl acetate-was compared. When using square wave voltammetry, signals only appeared at lower frequencies and only when the supporting electrolyte was in excess, as expected due to the relatively low permittivity of the used solvents.
