Background: Of all oral precancerous conditions, Oral Submucous Fibrosis is of greater concern because of its disabling nature and relative greater chances of malignant transformation. This malignant transformation involves glycolytic pathways that can alter lactate dehydrogenase levels. Therefore the aim of this study was to estimate the LDH levels in saliva and serum of subjects with OSMF and to compare them with healthy controls and to correlate the relationship between pathogenesis of OSMF and the LDH enzyme.
Methods: Sixty Subjects were recruited for this study and divided into two groups, 30 subjects with OSMF (Group A) and 30 healthy controls (Group B). Venous blood and unstimulated whole saliva measuring 1 ml was collected from each of these evaluated for LDH levels using the standard kit method. The data obtained were subjected to statistical analysis using the SPSS software version 17.
Results: The average salivary LDH value for Group A was 606.83 ± 60.09 U/l and for Group B was 80.73 ± 20.06 U/l. salivary LDH was greater in group A than Group B and this was statistically significant. On comparing the serum and salivary LDH in Group A with the clinical staging of OSMF, the results were not statistically significant. Similarly no statistically significant relationship was found on comparing the serum and salivary LDH in Group A (OSMF subjects) with duration of habit.
Conclusion: This study provides additional rationale for the role of salivary LDH in the early diagnosis and prognosis of oral submucous fibrosis.

Background: Layered double hydroxides (LDHs), featuring a 2D layered structure, are an emerging class of inorganic porous materials for electrochemical biosensors. Presently, they are primarily utilized in the electrochemical detection of oxygen-containing biomolecules. However, there are currently no reported LDH sensors, particularly CoNi-LDH ones, designed for the electrochemical detection of creatinine (Cre), a widely studied nitrogen-containing biomolecule.

Background/objectives: Saliva is gaining importance as a diagnostic sample in pigs. The aim of this research was to evaluate a panel of salivary analytes in three porcine diseases and establish predictive models to detect them.
Methods: Saliva samples were obtained from healthy pigs ( = 97) and pigs affected by meningitis due to ( = 118), diarrhea due to enterotoxigenic (ETEC, = 77), and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS, = 52).

Saliva stands out as an advantageous diagnostic fluid due to various reasons that make it a reliable and practical source for analysis. Its abundance facilitates easy and large-scale sample collection, enhancing its diagnostic utility. The simplicity of collecting and storing saliva samples, combined with its accessibility and cost-effectiveness compared to other body fluids, makes it an attractive choice for diagnostic purposes.

Objective: This systematic review aimed to analyze the literature on changes in endogenous salivary biomarkers of pain, anxiety, stress, and inflammation related to tooth movement during orthodontic treatment of children and adolescents.
Material And Methods: An electronic search was performed in nine databases to identify quasi-experimental studies, without restricting publication language and year. Two reviewers extracted the data and assessed the individual risk of bias using the JBI tools, and the certainty of evidence using the GRADE tool.

Unlabelled: This study of the features of the biochemical composition of biological fluids in patients with breast cancer, including saliva, allows us to identify some indicators as metabolic predictors of the presence of the disease.
Objectives: to study the influence of the menopause factor and body mass index (BMI) on the biochemical composition of saliva and to evaluate the applicability of metabolic markers of saliva for the diagnosis of breast cancer.
Methods: The case-control study involved 1438 people (breast cancer, = 543; fibroadenomas, = 597; control, = 298).
