Background: The predominant focus of extant literature exploring maternal experience of developmental disability has been stress, adaptation, efficacy of interventions and the burden of care. Most studies involve mothers of children, with scant attention given to what life is like later. This study qualitatively explores the experience of mothers of young adults (aged 19-28).
Materials And Methods: Semi-structured interviews conducted with six women aged 48-60 were transcribed and analysed using interpretative phenomenological analysis.
Results: Three themes illustrate how mothers are confronted with their adult children's continuing need for support and how a lack of trust in social care creates anxiety about the future, increasing awareness of mortality.
Conclusions: Vulnerability represents a useful concept for understanding these findings theoretically. Galvin & Todres' (2013) conceptual framework for the humanization of care provides the opportunity to prioritize the needs of individuals by highlighting dimensions of existence which confer meaning.

Objective: To assess the implementation of the "10 Steps for Successful Breastfeeding" and explore associations with any Breastfeeding (BF) and Exclusive Breastfeeding (EBF) initiation and continuation.
Methods: Implementation of the 10 Steps was assessed based on a consecutive sample of 568 mothers' self-reported experience across all public ( = 5) and 29 (of 35) private maternity clinics using the WHO/UNICEF BFHI questionnaire (Section 4) within the first 24-48 h after birth. BF and EBF were estimated within 48 h after birth as well as at 1st, 4th and 6th month based on a self-reported current status method.

Background: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) predispose a woman to maternity-related cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. However, there is limited literature on HDP among women of African descent in Canada.
Methods And Design: A convergent mixed-method study will be used to investigate the intersection of self-reported HDP risks in women of African descent in Canada with a history of a HDP (quantitative, cross-sectional survey) and explore the perception and experiences of women of African descent living in Canada with a history of a HDP in relation to the intersection of risk factors (critical qualitative inquiry, interviews).
