Five organotin(IV) compounds were synthesized from N'-[(1E)-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)methylidene]pyridine-4-carbohydrazone and the corresponding dialkyltin(IV) or trialkyltin(IV) precursor. Solid state structures were determined by IR, elemental analysis, NMR spectroscopy, and for 1, 2, 4 and 5 single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compounds 1, 2 and 4 are monomers with the tin atoms five-coordinated in distorted trigonal bipyramid, of which the deprotonated Schiff base ligand chelate to tin center in the enolic tridentate mode. Differently, in compound 5, the enolization does not occur for the Schiff base ligand, and only the pyridinyl N atom and the deprotonated phenol hydroxyl oxygen atom participate in the coordination. Fascinatingly, six trimethyltin(IV) coordination units are linked by the Sn⋯N weak interaction atoms and form a 72-membered crown-like macrocycle. Preliminary in vitro cytotoxicity studies on five human tumor cells lines (HL-60, A549, HT-29, HCT-116 and Caco-2) by MTT assay reveal that di-n-butyltin(IV) complex 2 and diphenyltin(IV) complex 4 triggered significant antiproliferative effects in cultured tumor cells, and their cytotoxic activity correlates with intracellular organotin(IV) concentration. The interaction of the complexes with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) has been explored by absorption and emission titration methods, which revealed that complexes 2 and 4 interact with CT-DNA through groove-binding and partial intercalation of the extended planar ligand with the DNA base stack. Further, the albumin interactions of complexes 2 and 4 were investigated using fluorescence quenching spectra and synchronous fluorescence spectra. Studies reveal that di-n-butyltin(IV) complex 2 with higher cytotoxicity show stronger DNA/BSA interaction than diphenyltin(IV) complex 4.

Bone disorders have increased with increasing the human lifespan, and despite the tissue's ability to self-regeneration, in many congenital problems and hard fractures, bone grafting such as autograft, allograft, and biomaterials implantation through surgery is traditionally used. Because of the adverse effects of these methods, the emergence of injectable hydrogels without the need for surgery and causing more pain for the patient is stunning to develop a new pattern for hard tissue engineering. These materials are formed with various natural and synthetic polymers with a crosslinked network through various chemical methods such as click chemistry, Michael enhancement, Schiff's base and enzymatic reaction and physical interactions with high water absorption which can mimic the environment of cells.

In this study, we present a new N-derivative of L-phenylalanine with 2-naphthaldehyde (PN), obtained by the Schiff base formation procedure and its subsequent reduction. This compound was crystallized as a zwitterion {2-[(naphthalen-2-ylmethyl)azaniumyl]-3-phenylpropanoate, CHNO}, as an anion in a sodium salt (catena-poly[[diaquasodium(I)-di-μ-aqua] 2-[(naphthalen-2-ylmethyl)amino]-3-phenylpropanoate monohydrate], {[Na(HO)](CHNO)·HO}), as a cation in a chloride salt [(1-carboxy-2-phenylethyl)(naphthalen-2-ylmethyl)azanium chloride acetic acid monosolvate, CHNO·Cl·CHCOOH], and additionally acting as a ligand in the pentacoordinated zinc compound aquabis{2-[(naphthalen-2-ylmethyl)amino]-3-phenylpropanoato-κO}zinc(II), [Zn(CHNO)(HO)] or [Zn(PN)(HO)], denoted (PN-Zn), with the amino acid derivative in its carboxylate form.

A soybean protein isolate (SPI)-based hydrogel with controllable properties was prepared under mild conditions using a simple mixing method with dialdehyde sodium alginate (DSA) as an eco-friendly macromolecular crosslinker. DSA was successfully synthesized via periodate oxidation. Analysis of the structure of the SPI/DSA hydrogel indicated that a 3D network was formed between SPI and DSA through dynamic imine and hydrogen bonds.

The current research focused on the synthesis of two series of pyrazole derivatives and evaluation of their insecticidal effectiveness. In the first series, seven pyrazole Schiff bases 3a-g were successfully synthesized with yields (79-95%) by condensing phenylfuran-2-carbaldehyde with substituted pyrazole rings. In the second series, eleven amino acid-pyrazole conjugates 6a-k were synthesized utilizing acetic acid, sulfuric acid, morpholine, and EDC.
