The chemistry of the hydrotris(mercaptobenzothiazolyl)borate anion (Tbz) with metal salts (HgI2, SbI3, BiI3, CoCl2) is reported in an attempt to probe the stability of the of Tbz ligand once coordinated to hard and soft metals. Complexes of Tbz with bismuth, containing the [Bi(Tbz)I3](-) anion, are stable, but with the other metals this is not the case. Although simple complexes such as [Hg(Tbz)I] and [E(Tbz)I3](-) (E = Sb, Bi) can be isolated from the reaction mixtures, subsequent reactions lead to ligand modification or decomposition. In the presence of mercury and antimony we observe the formation of a hitherto unseen cationic pentacyclic heterocycle. With cobalt we observe a small quantity of a product which suggests a more complete decomposition. A simple benzothiazole (bz) adduct [Co(bz)2Cl2] has been identified, in which the Tbz ligand has disintegrated and the parent heterocycle, mercaptobenzothiazole, has been desulfurized. A rationale for these observations is given.

Narrow band red-emitting phosphors based on organo-Eu(III) complexes prove their energetic features with surprising performance in smart red/white LEDs, sensing, and biological fields. In this report, a series of unique Eu(III) complexes have been synthesized with coumarin integrated with a class of phenanthroline(Phen)/thiabendazole(TBZ) based ancillary ligands and dibenzoyl methane (DBM)/2-theonyl trifluoroacetone (TTA) as an anionic ligand. The computational study reveals that the TBZ/Phen-based neutral ligands are superior energy harvesters to those other reported analogue neutral ligands.

Development of efficient and intelligent method for detecting harmful agrochemicals in resource-limited settings remains an urgent need to ensure food and environmental safety. Herein, a novel dual-emitting Tb-modified hydrogen-bonded organic framework (Tb@TBTC, TBTC is the ligand of HOF-TBTC.) with visible green fluorescence has been prepared through coordination post-synthetic modification.

Cationic [Cu(P^P)(Htbz)]PF [P^P = xantphos, dpephos; Htbz = 2-(4-thiazolyl)benzimidazole] and the corresponding neutral complexes [Cu(P^P)(tbz)], obtained through deprotonation of the diimine ligand, have been synthesized with the aim of analyzing the role of the diphosphane and Htbz deprotonation in the emissive properties of these complexes. For the study of the diphosphane effect, the luminescence properties of these compounds have been compared with those of the reported analogous derivatives with Htbz and carborane diphosphanes. Complexes [Cu(P^P)(Htbz)]PF (P^P = xantphos, dpephos) and [Cu(dpephos)(tbz)] display thermally activated delayed fluorescence, which has been studied, revealing a Δ(S-T) between 658 and 455 cm.

Triplet photovoltaic materials have been rarely investigated in organic solar cells (OSCs) because the role and mechanism of triplet excitons are still unclear. Cyclometalated heavy metal complexes with triplet features are expected to increase exciton diffusion lengths and improve exciton dissociation in OSCs, while the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of their bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) OSCs are still limited to <4%. We herein report an octahedral homoleptic tris-Ir(III) complex TBz3Ir as a donor material for BHJ OSCs with a PCE of over 11%.

Introduction: Lack of highly expressed tumor target and ligands limits application of nano-medicine against triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Previous study reported that placenta-derived oncofetal chondroitin sulfate glycosaminoglycan chain (CSA) expressed on 90% of stage I-III invasive ductal breast carcinomas. Our study found the CSA anchor protein VAR2CSA derived small peptide plCSA had strong binding activity with TNBC cell lines and tumor tissue.
