A stroke attack in the brainstem area as a serious complication of atrial fibrillation (AF) in a 51 year old woman with known paroxysmal AF (CHADS(2) score 3) was treated with LAA occlusion procedure after the complication of arterial bleeding secondary to anticoagulation therapy. LAA closure device embolisation was developed following the LAA occlusion procedure. The device was located and removed successfully from the systemic circulation.

Background: Calf muscle weakness is a common symptom in slowly progressive neuromuscular disorders that lead to walking problems like instability and increased walking effort. The mainstay of treatment to improve walking in this population is the provision of ankle-foot-orthoses (AFOs). Cerebrovascular ischemic events (CIE), such as stroke and transient ischemic attacks, are serious but rare complications of GCA, with a pooled prevalence of 4%. Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), despite its effectiveness in restoring knee stability and function, can have associated morbidity. The most frequent complications are technical errors, which have been described during graft harvesting, tunnel placement or graft fixation. The most serious complications are neurovascular injuries, arthrofibrosis and infections.
