Tri- or tetrasubstituted α-cyanoepoxides can be rapidly prepared from unactivated amines and malononitrile or methyl cyanoacetate when singlet oxygen, produced in a continuous-flow photoreactor, serves as an oxidant and in situ peroxide source. The hydrogen peroxide generated in amine oxidation epoxidizes an electron deficient olefin intermediate, formed by deaminative Mannich coupling. The corresponding α,α-dicyano- or α-cyano-α-esterepoxides were obtained in good yields (43-82%).

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) alone or combined with target therapies represents the standard of care for localized triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). However, only a fraction of patients have a response, necessitating better understanding of the complex elements in the TNBC ecosystem that establish continuous and multidimensional interactions. Resolving such complexity requires new spatially-defined approaches.

Iron-based enzymes efficiently activate molecular oxygen to perform the oxidation of methane to methanol (MTM), a reaction central to the contemporary chemical industry. Conversely, a very limited number of artificial catalysts have been devised to mimic this process. Herein, we employ the MIL-100(Fe) metal-organic framework (MOF), a material that exhibits isolated Fe sites, to accomplish the MTM conversion using O as the oxidant under mild conditions.

The encapsulation and eradication of anions from water have received a lot of scrutinize and are extremely important for virtuous production and environmental treatment. To prepare extremely efficient adsorbents, a highly functionalized and conjugated microporous porphyrin-based adsorbent material (Co-4MPP) was synthesized using the Alder Longo method. Co-4MPP featured a hierarchical microporous and mesoporous layered structure containing nitrogen and oxygen-based functional groups with a specific surface area of 685.

(-)-4-Hydroxyzinowol (1) is a potent inhibitor of P-glycoprotein, which has been implicated in multi-drug resistance in the treatment of cancer. The highly oxygenated structure of 1 comprises a trans-decalin (AB-ring) and a tetrahydrofuran (C-ring) and possesses six acyloxy, one hydroxy, and one alkoxy groups. The challenge of synthesizing 1 is particularly heightened by the nine consecutive stereogenic centers on the 10-carbon decalin skeleton.
