Morphological transition and the fabrication of unique architectures through molecular self-assembly of dipeptides are caused by the formation of a small nucleus in artificial supersaturation, achieved by quick drying of the solvent due to the local Joule heating. The growth mechanism of "diatom-like" porous microspheres and microtubes is proposed on the basis of several new techniques developed in the study.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a highly sensitive analytical technique with excellent molecular specificity. However, separate pristine nanoparticles produce relatively weak Raman signals. It is necessary to focus on increasing the "hot-spot" density generated at the nanogaps between the adjacent nanoparticles (second-generation SERS hotspot), thus significantly boosting the Raman signal by creating an electromagnetic field.

The self-assembly of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) into condensed phases and the formation of membrane-less organelles (MLOs) can be considered as the phenomenon of collective behavior. The conformational dynamics of IDPs are essential for their interactions and the formation of a condensed phase. From a physical perspective, collective behavior and the emergence of phase are associated with long-range correlations.

The emerging combination of chemotherapy and radionuclide therapy has been actively investigated to overcome the limitations of monotherapy and augment therapeutic efficacy. However, it remains a challenge to design a single delivery vehicle that can incorporate chemotherapeutics and radionuclides into a compact structure. Here, a chelator DOTA- or NOTA-modified Evans blue conjugated camptothecin molecule (EB-CPT) nanoprodrug was synthesized, which could self-assemble into nanoparticles due to its inherent amphiphilicity.

Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) are the end result of the irreversible, non-enzymatic glycation of proteins by reducing sugars. These chemical modifications accumulate with age and have been associated with various age-related and diabetic complications. AGEs predominantly accumulate on proteins with slow turnover rates, of which collagen is a prime example.

One of the most important goals of contemporary biology is to understand the principles of the molecular order underlying the complex dynamic architecture of cells. Here, we present an overview of the main driving forces involved in the cellular molecular complexity and in the emergent functional dynamic structures, spanning from the most basic molecular organization levels to the complex emergent integrative systemic behaviors. First, we address the molecular information processing which is essential in many complex fundamental mechanisms such as the epigenetic memory, alternative splicing, regulation of transcriptional system, and the adequate self-regulatory adaptation to the extracellular environment.
