Background: To present our experiences in initial clinical evaluation of a novel mechatronic system for in-bore guidance of needles to the prostate for MRI-guided prostate interventions in 10 patients. We report accuracy of this device in the context of focal laser ablation therapy for localized prostate cancer.
Methods: An MRI-compatible needle guidance device was developed for transperineal prostate interventions. Ten patients underwent MRI-guided focal laser ablation therapy with device-mediated laser fiber delivery. We recorded needle guidance error and needle delivery time.
Results: A total of 37 needle insertions were evaluated. Median needle guidance error was 3.5 mm (interquartile range, 2.1-5.4 mm), and median needle delivery time was 9 min (interquartile range, 6.5-12 min).
Conclusion: This system provides a reliable method of accurately aligning needle guides for in-bore transperineal needle delivery to the prostate.

Purpose: To evaluate the diagnostic value of different subtypes of non-punctate echogenic foci in thyroid malignancy.
Methods: Retrospective research of 342 thyroid nodules with calcification was performed. The echogenic foci were divided into punctate echogenic foci (type I) and non-punctate echogenic foci (type II), and type II were further divided into four subtypes: macrocalcification (type IIa), continuous peripheral calcification (type IIb), discontinuous peripheral calcification (type IIc) and isolated calcification (type IId).

Objective: The objective of this study was to explore the possibility of treating heart failure in rats by delivering mRNA of 24-dehydrocholesterol reductase (DHCR24) into the body through lipid nanoparticles (LNPs).
Methods: We established a heart failure rat model using doxorubicin. The experiment was divided into blank, model, mRNA stock solution cardiac injection, mRNA stock solution intravenous injection, LNP-mRNA stock solution cardiac injection, and LNP-mRNA stock solution intravenous injection groups.

Objective: To determine the feasibility, yield, and safety of fluoroscopic-guided aspiration of the acutely dislocated total hip arthroplasty (AD-THA).
Materials And Methods: IRB-approved, retrospective review of fluoroscopic-guided aspirations of AD-THA (January 2005-December 2023) was performed. Data from electronic charts and fluoroscopy images/reports were obtained.

Granular hydrogels are injectable and inherently porous biomaterials assembled through the packing of microparticles. These particles typically have a symmetric and spherical shape. However, recent studies have shown that asymmetric particles with high aspect ratios, such as fibers and rods, can significantly improve the mechanics, structure, and cell-guidance ability of granular hydrogels.
