Metal(II) coordination compounds of a cephalothin Schiff base (H2L) derived from the condensation of cephalothin antibiotic with sulfadiazine were synthesized. The Schiff base ligand, mononuclear [ML(H2O)3] (M(II)=Mn,Co,Ni,Zn) complexes and magnetically diluted dinuclear copper(II) complex [CuL(H2O)3]2 were characterized by several techniques, including elemental and thermal analysis, molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements, electronic, FT-IR, EPR and (1)H NMR spectral studies. The cephalothin Schiff base ligand H2L behaves as a dianionic tridentate NOO chelating agent. The biological applications of complexes have been studied on two bacteria strains (Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus) by agar diffusion disc method.

A novel fluorescence sensing nanoplatform (CDs/AuNCs@ZIF-8) encapsulating carbon dots (CDs) and gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) within a zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) was developed for ratiometric detection of formaldehyde (FA) in the medium of hydroxylamine hydrochloride (NHOH·HCl). The nanoplatform exhibited pink fluorescence due to the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effect of AuNCs and the internal filtration effect (IFE) between AuNCs and CDs. Upon reaction between NHOH·HCl and FA, a Schiff base formed via aldehyde-diamine condensation, releasing hydrochloric acid.

Background: Synthesis of the original Schiff base CdCl (CHNO) compound (Schiff base complex) displays an extensive range of bioactivities and was predictably utilized to treat several syndromes.
Purpose: The goal of the existing experiment is to evaluate the gastroprotective effects of a novel Schiff base CdCl₂ (C14H21N3O2) compound in alcohol-induced gastric ulcers in rats by examining its antioxidant activity, anti-inflammatory effects, and modulation of key molecular markers, including heat shock protein-70 (HSP-70) and Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax) proteins.
Methods: Five groups of rats were utilized in the current study.

Solid-state synthesis is an approach to organic synthesis that is desirable because it can offer minimal or no solvent waste, high yields, and relatively low energy footprints. Herein, we report the solid-state synthesis of a novel Schiff base, 4-{()-[(4-methylpyridin-3-yl)imino]methyl}benzoic acid (), synthesized through the reaction of an amine and an aldehyde. was prepared via solvent-drop (water) grinding (SDG) on a multigram scale with 97% yield and was characterized using FTIR, H NMR, and SCXRD.

A mechanically stable and thermo-irreversible supramolecular Ni(II)-selective gel () has been developed by utilizing the N,O-donor Schiff base (E)-1-((4-(diethylamino)phenylimino)-methyl)naphthalen-2-ol () gelator and EtN in binary THF:CHOH (1:1) solutions at room temperature (rt). Metallogel has been characterized by spectral and analytical techniques, i.e.
