We prospectively assessed the ability of FilmArray® device to identify fungal species involved in bloodstream infections. It succeeded in identifying 85.7% of isolates. The automated readout of results enabled the rapid initiation of appropriate antifungal therapy. Thus, FilmArray® appeared as a reliable alternative diagnostic method for the most common yeast-like species.

Background: We aimed to assess impairments on health-related quality of life, and mental health resulting from Retinal artery occlusion (RAO) with monocular visual field loss and posterior circulation ischemic stroke (PCIS) with full or partial hemianopia using patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).
Methods: In a prospective study, consecutive patients with acute RAO on fundoscopy and PCIS on imaging were recruited during their surveillance on a stroke unit over a period of 15 months. Baseline characteristics were determined from medical records and interviews.

Aims: To describe the sonographic features of active Charcot neuro-osteoarthropathy (CNO) and assess the potential role of ultrasound in identifying those with active CNO.
Methods: Using a prospective case-series study design we assessed the sonographic features of 14 patients with a diagnosis of diabetes presenting with clinical signs and symptoms suspicious for active CNO. Patients had standard weight-bearing plain X-Ray and, where possible, MRI to evaluate the presence of active CNO.

BACKGROUND For patients with end-stage renal disease, arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are often used for hemodialysis, but stenosis can impair their function. Traditional inpatient procedures to address AVF stenosis are effective but resource-intensive, prompting the need for alternative approaches like day surgery to optimize care and reduce costs. This study evaluated the feasibility of a day surgery model for AVF stenosis treatment in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients, aiming to develop a cost-effective and high-quality care model.
