A novel water-soluble root canal filling material based on sodium iodide (NaI) has been developed to overcome the limitations of existing iodine-based formulations. However, the biological stability of this approach in animal studies remains unverified. This study evaluated the biocompatibility of NaI compared to commercial root canal filling materials (Calcipex II and Vitapex) in pulpectomized canine teeth to assess its clinical applicability.

People, in increasing numbers, are seeking orthodontic treatment to correct malocclusion, while some of them are suffering from orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption (OIIRR). Recent evidence suggests that the immune-inflammatory response occurring during bone remodeling may be responsible for OIIRR. Ferroptosis, a new type of programmed cell death (PCD), has been found to have a close interrelation with inflammation during disease progression.

Pulp chamber and root canal obliteration (PCO/RCO) presents a challenge for clinicians when nonsurgical endodontic treatment is indicated. Guided endodontics (GE) aims to precisely locate the root canal (RC) system while preserving as much pericervical dentin as possible. GE involves integrating cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) of the affected tooth with a digital impression of the maxillary/mandibular arch, allowing for careful planning of the drilling path to the RC system through a three-dimensional (3D) static guide.

Background Chronic periodontitis is primarily caused by various bacterial species present in the plaque biofilm, which trigger a host inflammatory response. This leads to the abnormal release of inflammatory mediators such as proinflammatory cytokines (interleukin-1, interleukin-6, interleukin-8, and tumor necrosis factor-α), which are free radicals that cause alveolar bone resorption and tooth loss. (bitter gourd) is a widely used medicinal plant for the treatment of numerous diseases such as skin infections, diabetes, metabolic disorders, and carcinomas for several decades.

Periodontitis, a common chronic inflammatory condition caused by bacteria, leads to loss of attachment, resorption of alveolar bone, and ultimately tooth loss. Therefore, reducing bacterial load and fostering alveolar bone regeneration are essential components in the treatment of periodontitis. In this study, we prepared smaller-sized Ag-Metal Organic Frameworks (Ag@MOF) and loaded with sodium alginate (Alg) hydrogel for periodontitis treatment.
