Objectives Of The Study: The aim of this study was to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the epidemiology and clinical course of chickenpox in children based on 6 years of self-reported observations.
Material And Methods: The medical records of 350 patients under 18 years of age hospitalised in the Department of Paediatrics, Infectious Diseases, and Hepatology between 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2023 were analysed retrospectively.
Results: During the analysed period, 350 children were hospitalised due to chickenpox, the fewest in the pandemic period, the greatest number in 2023.

is a common opportunistic pathogen that causes gastrointestinal diseases in livestock and poultry. Our preliminary research has demonstrated that administering oral yeast-cell microcapsule (YCM)-mediated DNA vaccines can effectively stimulate mucosal immunity, thereby preventing the occurrence of gastrointestinal diseases. In this study, the α-toxin gene was first cloned and the H126G and C-terminal (C247-370) mutations were created.

Methanol is a widely used industrial and household alcohol that poses significant health risks upon exposure. Despite its extensive use, methanol poisoning remains a critical public health concern globally, often resulting from accidental or intentional ingestion and outbreaks linked to contaminated beverages. Methanol toxicity stems from its metabolic conversion to formaldehyde and formic acid, leading to severe metabolic acidosis and multiorgan damage, including profound CNS effects and visual impairments.

Background: Cactus contains dietary fiber and minerals and is expected to have preventive effects against diabetes, arteriosclerosis, and other diseases. Additionally, cactus intake induces the production of short-chain fatty acids derived from the gut microbiota, which might influence immune functions. In this study, we examined the effects of a cactus (: NC)-supplemented diet on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced immune responses and intestinal barrier function.

The neonatal period is a critical phase for the development of the intestinal immune system, marked by rapid adaptation to the external environment and unique nutritional demands. Breast milk plays a pivotal role in this transition, yet the mechanisms by which it influences neonatal mucosal immunity remain unclear. This review examines the potential mechanisms by which cell-free DNA (cfDNA) in breast milk may impact neonatal immune development, particularly through Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) signalling and gut microbiota interactions.
