It is generally believed that the spontaneous breaking of the Poincaré group by flux tubes (strings) generates only two zero modes localized on the string and associated with the spontaneous breaking of translational invariance (the so-called Low-Manohar argument). Being perfectly true in many instances this argument is nevertheless nonuniversal and has to be amended in the case of order parameters carrying spatial indices. We show that under certain circumstances additional zero (or quasizero) modes can appear due to spin symmetry.

In a dilute two-dimensional electron gas, Coulomb interactions can stabilize the formation of a Wigner crystal. Although Wigner crystals are topologically trivial, it has been predicted that electrons in a partially filled band can break continuous translational symmetry and time-reversal symmetry spontaneously, resulting in a type of topological electron crystal known as an anomalous Hall crystal. Here we report signatures of a generalized version of the anomalous Hall crystal in twisted bilayer-trilayer graphene, whose formation is driven by the moiré potential.

Dyes can seriously harm human health because they linger or break down in the environment and find their way into drinking water through the water cycle. Examples of the most important interactions between MOFs and dyes are provided, and an effort is made to comprehend how surface charge and size compatibility affect the adsorption process. The methods for incorporating functionalized Ce-MOF into electrospun nanofibers made of polyvinyl alcohol and chitosan to create functionalized cerium metal organic framework nanofiber membranes (FCCP nanofiber membranes) are presented in this paper.

Origins and conservation of topological polarization defects in resonant photonic-crystal diffraction.

We present a continuative definition of topological charge to depict the polarization defects on any resonant diffraction orders in photonic crystal slab regardless they are radiative or evanescent. By using such a generalized definition, we investigate the origins and conservation of polarization defects across the whole Brillouin zone. We found that the mode crossings due to Brillouin zone folding contribute to the emergence of polarization defects in the entire Brillouin zone.

Two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals heterostructures consist of different 2D crystals with diverse properties, constituting the cornerstone of the new generation of 2D electronic devices. Yet interfaces in heterostructures inevitably break bulk symmetry and structural continuity, resulting in delicate atomic rearrangements and novel electronic structures. In this paper, we predict that 2D interfaces undergo "spontaneous curvature", which means when two flat 2D layers approach each other, they inevitably experience out-of-plane curvature.
