Methotrexate (MTX) is an antifolate cytotoxic medication used to treat certain types of cancer and at lower doses for rheumatic diseases. MTX has many serious adverse effects, such as myelosuppression, hepatic, renal and pulmonary disorders. For safe and effective use of high dose methotrexate (HDMTX) certain precautions should be followed. We present this case study with short review to briefly summarize the important practical issues related to HDMTX therapy.

Health security-Why is 'public health' not enough?

Glob Health Res Policy

January 2025

Faculty of Medicine and Health, Sydney School of Public Health, The University of Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia.

There is a growing tendency in global discourse to describe a health issue as a security issue. But why is this health security language and framing necessary during times of crisis? Why is the term "health security" used when perhaps simply saying "public health" would do? Existing power dynamics in global health are produced and maintained through political processes.

A Faster Privacy-Preserving Medical Image Diagnosis Scheme with Machine Learning.

J Imaging Inform Med

College of Computer, Chongqing University, No. 55 Daxuecheng South Rd, Shapingba, 401331, Chongqing, China.

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have become indispensable to medical image diagnosis research, enabling the automated differentiation of diseased images from extensive medical image datasets. Due to their efficacy, these methods raise significant privacy concerns regarding patient images and diagnostic models. To address these issues, some researchers have explored privacy-preserving medical image diagnosis schemes using fully homomorphic encryption (FHE).

Advanced practice providers (APPs) experience limited clinical opportunities to perform neonatal procedures to maintain competency and hospital credentialing, especially high-acuity procedures that are extremely rare but crucial during patient emergencies. Incorporating simulation as part of continuing professional education can help APPs maintain clinical procedural competency and learn new procedural techniques to improve the quality and safety of procedures performed in the clinical setting. In 2013, we successfully developed and implemented an annual didactic and simulation-based neonatal procedural skills program.
