Modified fluoroscopy-guided sacroiliac joint injection: a technical report.

Published: September 2014

Background And Objective: Sacroiliac joint (SIJ) injection can occasionally be challenging. We describe our experience in using conventional technique, and we developed an adjustment to overcome difficulties incurred.

Methods: Conventional technique required superimposition of the posterior and anterior SIJ lines. If this technique failed to provide entry into the joint, fluoroscopy was slightly adjusted to obtain an oblique view.

Results: Of 50 SIJ injections, 29 (58%; 44-72%) were successfully performed using conventional technique. In another 21 procedures, 18 (85.7%; 64-99%) were subsequently completed using oblique view technique. The medial joint line, viewed from this angle, corresponded to the posterior joint line in 17 cases. The lateral joint line corresponded to the posterior joint line in one case.

Conclusions: Oblique view technique can improve the success rate of SIJ injection.

Background: Ovarian cancers (OC) and cervical cancers (CC) have poor survival rates. Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) play a pivotal role in prognosis, but shared immune mechanisms remain elusive.

Methods: We integrated single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and spatial transcriptomics (ST) to explore immune regulation in OC and CC, focusing on the PI3K/AKT pathway and FLT3 as key modulators.

Pocket hematoma is a common and serious complication following cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation, contributing to significant morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a novel pocket compression device in reducing pocket hematoma occurrence. We enrolled 242 patients undergoing CIED implantation, randomly assigning them to receive either the novel compression vest with a pressure cuff or conventional sandbag compression.

MUC1 and glycan probing of CA19-9 captured biomarkers from cyst fluids and serum provides enhanced recognition of ovarian cancer.

Department of Life Technologies, Division of Biotechnology, University of Turku, Medisiina D, 5th floor, Kiinamyllynkatu 10, 20520, Turku, Finland.

Glycosylation changes of circulating proteins carrying the CA19-9 antigen may offer new targets for detection methods to be explored for the diagnosis of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Search for assay designs for targets initially captured by a CA19-9 antigen reactive antibody from human body fluids by probing with fluorescent nanoparticles coated with lectins or antibodies to known EOC associated proteins. CA19-9 antigens were immobilized from ascites fluids, ovarian cyst fluids or serum samples using monoclonal antibody C192 followed by probing of carrier proteins using anti-MUC16, anti-MUC1 and, anti STn antibodies and seven lectins, all separately coated on nanoparticles.

Objectives: The use of electronic cigarettes "e-cigarettes," or vaping is growing in popularity, especially among adolescents and young adults. While the effects of cigarette smoking on oral health are well-established, the exact impact that e-cigarettes may have on dental tissues is still uncertain. The aim of the current review was to summarize evidence related to the effect of vaping on the periodontal health status of e-cigarette users.

Purpose: The fixation method commonly employed worldwide for treating unstable fractures of the posterior pelvic ring is the percutaneous iliosacral screw technique. However, prolonged operation time and frequent fluoroscopies result in surgical risks. This study aimed to investigate whether a new triangulation method could reduce operative and fluoroscopy times and increase the accuracy of screw placement.
