Context: Circulating miRNAs are potential biomarkers that can be important molecules driving cell-to-cell communication.
Objective: To investigate circulating muscle-specific miRNAs in recreational athletes.
Materials And Methods: Three miRNAs from whole plasma before and after a half-marathon were analyzed by qPCR.
Results: MiR-1, -133a, and -206 significantly increased after the race.
Discussion: Increased levels of miRNAs after exercise point to potential biomarkers and to the possibility of being functional players following endurance training.
Conclusion: These miRNAs are potential biomarkers of muscle damage or adaptation to exercise.

Background: This study aimed to investigate miRNAs and upstream regulatory transcription factors involved in schizophrenia (SZ) pathogenesis.
Methods: Differential expression of miRNAs and genes in SZ patients was investigated utilizing the gene expression omnibus dataset, gene ontology annotations, and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction experiments were conducted to validate the predictive screening of regulatory genes in peripheral blood samples from 20 SZ patients and 20 healthy controls.

Background/objectives: Millions of individuals worldwide continue to experience symptoms following SARS-CoV-2 infection. This study aimed to assess the prevalence and phenotype of multi-system symptoms attributed to Long COVID-including fatigue, pain, cognitive-emotional disturbances, headache, cardiopulmonary issues, and alterations in taste and smell-that have persisted for at least two years after acute infection, which we define as "persistent Long COVID". Additionally, the study aimed to identify clinical features and blood biomarkers associated with persistent Long COVID symptoms.

Achieving the precise targeting of lentiviral vectors (LVs) to specific cell populations is crucial for effective gene therapy, particularly in cancer treatment where the modulation of the tumor microenvironment can enhance anti-tumor immunity. Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) is overexpressed on activated tumor-infiltrating T lymphocytes, including regulatory T cells that suppress immune responses via FOXP3 expression. We developed PD1-targeted LVs by incorporating the anti-PD1 nanobody nb102c3 into receptor-blinded measles virus H and VSV-G glycoproteins.

Lymphocryptoviruses (LCVs) are ubiquitous gamma-herpesviruses that establish life-long infections in both humans and non-human primates (NHPs). In immunocompromised hosts, LCV infections are commonly associated with B cell disorders and malignancies such as lymphoma. In this study, we evaluated simian LCV-encoded small microRNAs (miRNAs) present in lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs) derived from a Mauritian cynomolgus macaque () with cyLCV-associated post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD) as well as the viral miRNAs expressed in a baboon () LCL that harbors CeHV12.

The COVID-19 outbreak, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, was linked to significant neurological and psychiatric manifestations. This review examines the physiopathological mechanisms underlying these neuropsychiatric outcomes and discusses current management strategies. Primarily a respiratory disease, COVID-19 frequently leads to neurological issues, including cephalalgia and migraines, loss of sensory perception, cerebrovascular accidents, and neurological impairment such as encephalopathy.
