Reconceiving the hippocampal map as a topological template.

The role of the hippocampus in spatial cognition is incontrovertible yet controversial. Place cells, initially thought to be location-specifiers, turn out to respond promiscuously to a wide range of stimuli. Here we test the idea, which we have recently demonstrated in a computational model, that the hippocampal place cells may ultimately be interested in a space's topological qualities (its connectivity) more than its geometry (distances and angles); such higher-order functioning would be more consistent with other known hippocampal functions. We recorded place cell activity in rats exploring morphing linear tracks that allowed us to dissociate the geometry of the track from its topology. The resulting place fields preserved the relative sequence of places visited along the track but did not vary with the metrical features of the track or the direction of the rat's movement. These results suggest a reinterpretation of previous studies and new directions for future experiments.

Upon interaction with its cognate ligand, OX40L, OX40 transmits costimulatory signals to antigen-primed T cells, promoting their activation, differentiation, and survivalprocesses essential for the establishment of adaptive immunity. Although the OX40-OX40L interaction has been extensively studied in the context of disease treatment, developing a substitute for the naturally expressed membrane-bound OX40L, particularly a multimerized OX40L trimers, that effectively regulates OX40-driven T cell responses remains a significant challenge.

To examine the therapeutic effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medicine in conjunction with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors for nourishing yin and replenishing qi in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. A systematic search was conducted across seven electronic databases, namely PubMed, Cochrane Library, Excerpt Medica Database, Web of Science, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wan-fang Database, to identify eligible studies from 2,000 to 2,023. This study includes a total of 14 randomized controlled clinical trials, with 514 patients in the TCM combo therapy group and 506 patients in the control group.

The present article focuses on the characterization of the new biocomposites of poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) with fillers of plant origin such as onion peels (OP) and durum wheat bran WB () subjected to composting and artificial aging. The susceptibility to fungal growth, cytotoxicity and antibacterial properties were also examined.
