Introduction: The role of pupil participation in school-based physical activity is an often overlooked element despite the increasing interest in pupils' voices in policy development and research. Pupil participation is here defined as collaborative actions involving pupils and school stakeholders that influence decision-making processes in school-based physical activity. This study was conducted to explore how the 10- and 15-year-old pupils perceive their participation roles in school-based physical activity connected to age and the contexts of physically active learning and recess in various schools in Norway and Estonia.

Design of Multimodal Supramolecular Protein Assemblies via Enzyme-Substrate Interactions for Intracellular Antioxidant Regulation.

Nano Lett

March 2025

Key Laboratory of Organosilicon Chemistry and Material Technology, Ministry of Education, Zhejiang Key Laboratory of Organosilicon Material Technology, College of Material, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Hangzhou Normal University, Hangzhou 311121, Zhejiang, China.

Allosteric modulation of protein function, which involves effector binding triggering distant conformational changes, is crucial for cellular and metabolic control. However, achieving tunable control, structural diversity, and precise intracellular regulation remains challenging. Here, we designed dynamic supramolecular protein assemblies driven by enzyme-substrate interactions for antioxidant regulation in cells.

Waiting in a Place of Impossible Demands: Surveillance-Care in a Tanzanian Maternity Waiting Home.

Med Anthropol

March 2025

Department of Sociology and Criminology & Law, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, USA.

Today in rural Tanzania, nurses instruct pregnant women to go to maternity waiting homes (MWH), spaces of surveillance-care, long before due dates. Envisioned as a place risk in policies of global safe motherhood, ethnography shows how the MWH becomes a place risk to pregnant women and nurses. Negotiations at the MWH show how surveillance-care can be used to control and reinforce hierarchies - inadvertently creating risk - but also, in surprising ways, mitigate risk by insisting on other forms of care.

Operationalising participatory action research to evaluate early years' population health services.

BMC Public Health

March 2025

School of Health & Social Care, University of Essex, Wivenhoe Park, Colchester, Essex, CO4 3SQ, UK.

Background: Early years interventions are critical to children's health and development and are emerging as core to public health programmes in the UK and globally. Evaluating such interventions is complex. The study reported in this article evaluates a place-based public health initiative 'A Better Start Southend' (ABSS) aimed at facilitating early years' development specifically.

Thermoelectric therapy has been emerging as a promising and versatile strategy for targeting malignant tumors treatment. However, the lack of effective time-space controlled triggering of thermoelectric effect in vivo limits the application of thermoelectric therapy. Here a magnetically triggered thermoelectric heterojunction (CuFeO/SrTiO, CFO/STO) for synergistic thermoelectric/chemodynamic/immuno-therapy is developed.
