Objective: To observe the effect of external application of Zhuangshenling Recipe (ZR) combined with Western medicine (WM) on the heart function of chronic heart failure (CHF) patients of Xin-Shen yang deficiency, interior retention of water-fluid syndrome (XSYDIRWFS).

Methods: Totally 140 CHF patients of XSYDIRWFS were randomly assigned to two groups, the treatment group and the control group, 70 in each group. All patients received WM therapy. Those in the treatment group were applied with ZR at Xinshu (BL15) and Shenshu (BL23), while those in the control group were applied with placebos at Xinshu (BL15) and Shenshu (BL23). The therapeutic course for all was 12 weeks. The integrals of TCM syndrome, grading of cardiac function, brain natriuretic polypeptide (BNP), and 6 min walking distance were observed before and after treatment.

Results: After twelve weeks of treatment, the effective rate of improved grading of cardiac function, the total effective rate of TCM syndrome efficacy, and the BNP level were obviously better in the treatment group (P < 0.05). There was no statistical difference in 6 min walking distance between the two groups (P > 0.05).

Conclusion: External application of ZR combined with WM could improve the heart function of CHF patients of XSYDIRWFS.

This study aims to use superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs), specifically magnetite (FeO), to deliver deflazacort (DFZ) and ibuprofen (IBU) to Duchenne muscular dystrophy-affected (DMD) mouse muscles using an external magnetic field. The SPIONs are synthesized by the co-precipitation method, and their surfaces are functionalized with L-cysteine to anchor the drugs, considering that the cysteine on the surface of the SPIONs in the solid state dimerizes to form the cystine molecule, creating the FeO-(Cys)-DFZ and FeO-(Cys)-IBU systems for tests. Objective:  This study compares the color change of non-vital anterior teeth after laser-activated bleaching and conventional walking bleaching technique.

Materials And Methods:  Sixty extracted teeth were endodontically treated, stained in a black tea solution, and the baseline shade was measured using a spectrophotometer (Easyshade, VITA). Bleaching was done using either: internal bleaching with 35% HO (Opalescence Endo) and then tooth sealed for 5 days (Gr1), 35% HO (JW Next) for 7 minutes (Gr2), internal and external bleaching for 7 minutes (Gr3), diode laser-activated internal bleaching for 30 seconds (940 nm, continuous wave, 2 W, noncontact mode, 300 um, non-initiated tip), wait for 7 minutes, second laser application for 30 seconds, tooth sealed for 5 days (Gr4), diode laser-activated internal bleaching for 24 hours (Gr5), or diode laser-activated internal and external bleaching for 24 hours (Gr6) ( = 10).
