Introduction: According to the theoretical model of Schema Therapy, each human being has basic needs that require natural satisfaction from childhood. When these emotional needs are frustrated, early maladaptive schemas (EMS) develop, leading to coping styles that are strategies to manage the pain caused by activated EMS. The study validates and standardizes the Schema Coping Inventory in the Italian population and evaluates correlations between psychological variables and the SCI.

Hematopoietic stem cells surrender organelles during differentiation, leaving mature red blood cells (RBC) devoid of transcriptional machinery and mitochondria. The resultant absence of cellular repair capacity limits RBC circulatory longevity, and old cells are removed from circulation. The specific age-dependent alterations required for this apparently targeted removal of RBC, however, remain elusive.

The sense of agency, our felt sense of authorship for our actions, is a difficult concept to define, yet its faltering stands at the heart of psychopathology. Historically undertheorized by psychoanalysis and typically positioned opposite relatedness by clinical psychology, Jeremy Safran conceived of agency and relatedness as paradoxically related. This paper pays tribute to Safran's ideas by taking his writings on agency as a starting point to elaborate how agency forms, and goes awry, in the relational crucible of early life.
