Background: Elevated iron in brain is a source of free radicals that causes oxidative stress which has been linked to neuropathologies and cognitive impairment among older adults. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of iron levels with transverse relaxation rate, R, and white matter hyperintensities (WMH), independent of the effects of other metals and age-related neuropathologies.
Method: Cerebral hemispheres from 437 older adults participating in the Rush Memory and Aging Project study (Table 1) were imaged ex-vivo using 3T MRI scanners.

The cerebellum plays a crucial role in functions, including sensory-motor coordination, cognition, and emotional processing. Compared to the neocortex, the human cerebellum exhibits a protracted developmental trajectory. This delayed developmental timeline may lead to increased sensitivity of the cerebellum to external influences, potentially extending the vulnerability period for neurological disorders.

Background: Premorbid sarcopenia, osteoporosis, and obesity are epiphenomena that affect survival and functional outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke. The effects of preexisting sarcopenia and/or osteopenia on long-term outcome after ischemic stroke were herein prospectively studied.
Methods: Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DeXA), bio-impedance analysis (BIA) and muscle ultrasonography (US) data were prospectively collected within the first 72 hours in 297 consecutive acute ischemic stroke patients (45.

Background: Anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion (ACCF) is a standard surgical procedure for cervical spondylosis with spinal cord compression (CSWSCC), especially in patients with intensity on T2-weighted imaging high signal (T2WIHS). The titanium mesh cage (TMC) utilized in this procedure is essential in stabilizing the spine; however, the optimal slotting width of the TMC remains unclear.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the impact of TMC slotting width on the clinical and radiological outcomes of ACCF in patients with spinal cord compression type cervical spondylosis with intensity on T2WIHS (CST2WIHS).
