Antioxidants, both glutathione (GSH) and astaxanthin (AX), possess beneficial applications in animal growth and antioxidant properties. In this study, three experimental diets with isoproteic and isolipidic were formulated, the control diet (CON), the control diet added with 0.03% Carophyll Pink (contains 10% AX), the control diet added with 0.

A 10-week feeding study was conducted to examine the effects of dietary tryptophan (Trp) levels on the growth performance and protein metabolism of hybrid grouper (♀ × ♂) with the aim of determining the optimal Trp requirement. Six isonitrogenous and isolipidic experimental diets were formulated, containing varying levels of Trp (0.26%, 0.

Misfolding and accumulation of amyloid-β (Aβ) in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) lead to neuronal loss through various mechanisms, including the downregulation of eukaryotic elongation factor 2 (EEF2) protein synthesis signaling. This study investigated the neuroprotective effects of indole and coumarin derivatives on Aβ folding and EEF2 signaling using SH-SY5Y cells expressing Aβ-green fluorescent protein (GFP) folding reporter. Among the tested compounds, two indole (NC009-1, -6) and two coumarin (LM-021, -036) derivatives effectively reduced Aβ misfolding and associated reactive oxygen species (ROS) production.

Boosting C Alcohols Selectivity and Activity in High-Current CO Electroreduction using Synergistic Cu/Zn Co-Catalysts.

The electrosynthesis of multi-carbon (C) alcohols, specifically ethanol and n-propanol through CO electroreduction (CORR) in HO, presents a sustainable pathway for intermittent renewable energy storage and a low-carbon economy. However, achieving high selectivity for alcohol production at industrial current densities is kinetically hampered by side reactions such as ethylene generation and hydrogen evolution reaction, which result from competing adsorption of *CO and *H. In this study, we developed a Cu/Zn alloy catalyst to simultaneously enhance the activity and selectivity for alcohol production by increasing CO capture capacity and enriching active hydrogen on Cu sites.

Article Synopsis
  • An 8-week trial studied the impact of linoleic acid (LA) supplementation on largemouth bass fed high-fat diets, examining factors like growth, liver health, and metabolism.
  • Fish fed LA-supplemented diets at 0.15% and 0.20% showed improved growth and better liver health compared to those given only high-fat diets, while 0.25% LA did not provide added benefits.
  • Overall, LA supplementation enhanced lipid use, glycogen storage, and liver antioxidant capacity, suggesting it mitigates negative effects of high-fat diets and improves growth in largemouth bass.
