The direct synthesis of N3 substituted pyrimidine nucleoterpenes from uridine, thymidine, and inosine with C5, C10, and C15 side chains and using DBU as the base is described. In all cases the reaction proceeded smoothly in very good yields (85-99%) affording selectively N3 substituted adducts.

In this study, a novel hybrid nanostructure consisting of acid-decorated chitosan and magnetic AlFeO nanoparticles was fabricated. The acid-decorated chitosan provided a stable and biocompatible matrix for the magnetic AlFeO nanoparticles. Various techniques including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), specific surface area (BET), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) were used to characterize and confirm the successful synthesis of the hybrid nanostructure.

DNA sequences that are composed of multiple G- and C-tracts can potentially form non-canonical structures called G-quadruplex (GQ) or i-motif (iM), respectively. Such sequences are found at the ends of chromosomes (telomeric repeats) and in the promoter region of several genes that cause cancer. Despite extensive studies, distinguishing different GQ and iM topologies is not easy.

With increasing clinical demands for painless and easy administration of medications, such as for hair loss, microneedles (MNs) have been widely exploited for facilitating drug permeation in a minimally invasive manner. However, precise dose control and long-term drug delivery without the infection risk through punctured holes have remained unresolved. Herein, we developed swellable microneedles (MNs) with an air-pocket structure, enabling shear-induced implantation inside the skin.

Application of the FOLFOX scheme to colorectal cancer (CRC) patients often results in the development of chemo-resistance, leading to therapy failure. This study aimed to develop a functional and easy-to-use algorithm to predict patients' response to FOLFOX treatment. Transcriptomic data of CRC patient's samples treated with FOLFOX were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database (GSE83129, GSE28702, GSE69657, GSE19860 and GSE41568).

A metal- and solvent-free, one-pot and TFA-promoted method for the construction of hetero/aryl-substituted quinoxalin-2-ones, pyrazin-2(1)-ones, and pyrimidin-4(3)-ones is reported. This method involves the reaction of chloro-derivatives of nitrogen heterocycles with electron-rich arenes/heteroarenes, followed by hydroxylation. This protocol is easy to use, providing access to (hetero)aryl-substituted -heterocycles in good yields.
