The lithobiomorph centipede fauna of China is listed here based on literature data. A total of 68 species in 15 genera/subgenera in 2 families, Henicopidae and Lithobiidae, has been recorded from China. Three genera and forty-four species are known only from China, including the monotypic genera Pterygotergum and Hedinobius. The original descriptions of 16 nominal species were based on specimens of single sex only and 13 nominal species of Lithobius have never been allocated to a subgenus. Lithobius (Lithobius) zhui Pei, Ma, Shi, Wu & Gai, 2011 is moved to subgenus Lithobius (Ezembius). Distribution data for each species is provided here to promote further studies on the Lithobiomorpha fauna of China.

Karst ecosystems often contain extraordinary biodiversity, but the complex underground aquifers of karst regions present challenges for assessing and conserving stygobiont diversity and investigating their evolutionary history. We examined the karst-obligate salamanders of the species complex in the Edwards Plateau region of central Texas using population genomics data to address questions about population connectivity and the potential for gene exchange within the underlying aquifer system. The species complex has historically been divided into three nominal species, but their status, and spatial extent of species ranges, have remained uncertain.

Photofragment translational spectroscopy has been used to characterize the energetics and the cross sections for photodissociation of CHI and CFI adsorbed on thin films of a variety of aromatic molecules, initiated by near-UV light. Thin films (nominally 10 monolayers) of benzene, five substituted benzenes and two naphthalenes have been employed to study systematic changes in the photochemical activity. Illumination of these systems with 248 nm light is found to result in a dissociation process for the CHI and CFI mediated by initial absorption in the aromatic thin film, followed by electronic energy transfer (EET) to the dissociating species.

Species of the genus Cuvier, 1829 (Pempheridae) from Japan and Taiwan are taxonomically reviewed based on morphology supported by molecular phylogenetic analysis. Ten species are recognized from these countries: Bleeker, 1855, Koeda & Motomura, 2017, Döderlein, 1883, Jordan & Evermann, 1902, Cuvier, 1831, Jordan & Hubbs, 1925, Bleeker, 1877, Koeda, Yoshino & Tachihara, 2013, Cuvier, 1831, Tominaga, 1963. Nine of them are distributed in Japan, and five of them in Taiwan.

Background: Fast and reliable species identification of black flies is essential for research proposes and effective vector control. Besides traditional identification based on morphology, which is usually supplemented with molecular methods, geometric morphometrics (GM) has emerged as a promising tool for identification. Despite its potential, no specific GM techniques have been established for the identification of black fly species.

This work aims to describe the effect of the surface modification of TiO nanotube (TNT) layers on Ti-6Al-4V (TiAlV) alloy by ultrathin TiO coatings prepared via Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) on the growth of MG-63 osteoblastic cells. The TNT layers with two distinctly different inner diameters, namely ∼15 nm and ∼50 nm, were prepared via anodic oxidation of the TiAlV alloy. Flat, i.
