Objective: A systematical investigation on the distribution of wild germplasm of Regonia fimbristipula in Dinghu District, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province was conducted at 8 sites.

Methods: Field quadrat survey method was carried out.

Results: Begonia fimbristipula had obvious phenotypical plasticity showing three phenotypes with red, green and bicolor leaf, respectively. Its populations lived in the ecological environment of rock. The growth and building of Begonia fimbristipula population were mutually influenced by many ecological factors such as natural habitat, slope-exposure, soil thickness, sunlight, air humidity as well as soil physical and chemical properties.

Conclusion: Living environment vulnerability and human activities are the main reason causing sharp decrease of wild resources of Begonia fimbristipula. Evaluation on regional distribution of wild Begonia fimbristipula and its protection and use of the rationalization have important value.

The genus has not only been recognised to be one of the mega-diverse plant genera but also as one found to comprise many undiscovered species. In particular, the increase of extensive field surveys in tropical regions of Southeast Asia has added to the discovery of many new species that are often found only in a few localities. In this study, the new taxon Begoniafimbristipulasubsp.

is a plant of perennial flowering plants in the family Begoniaceae. In this article, the complete chloroplast genome of was studied and illustrated to add more genetic information. The chloroplast genome is 169,436 bp in length as the circular, which exhibits a large single-copy region (LSC) of 77,058 bp, a small single-copy region (SSC) of 18,128 bp, and a pair of inverted repeat regions (IRs) of 37,123 bp in each.

Premise Of The Study: Begonia fimbristipula (Begoniaceae) is a medicinal herb distributed in the Chinese provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hunan, Jiangxi, and Zhejiang, and it is on the verge of extinction due to habitat destruction and deterioration of its ecosystem. Here we developed a set of highly polymorphic microsatellite markers for population genetic and conservation studies of this endangered medicinal plant.

Methods And Results: Using the Fast Isolation by AFLP of Sequences COntaining repeats (FIASCO) protocol, 18 polymorphic microsatellite markers were identified within 48 individuals from two geographic locations.
