  • This study aimed to analyze the chemical constituents of the plant Tamarix chinensis by isolating and purifying its compounds.
  • The researchers utilized column chromatography for isolation and spectroscopic methods for structural analysis, resulting in the identification of nine distinct compounds.
  • Notably, compounds 1-3, 7, and 8 were isolated from Tamarix chinensis for the first time, with compounds 1-3, 7 also being new to the Tamarix genus.

Article Abstract

Objective: To study the chemical consistuents of Tamarix chinensis.

Methods: The compounds were isolated and purified by column chromatography and their structures were elucidated through spectroscopic analysis.

Results: Nine compounds were isolated and identified as isotamarixen(1), matairesinol(2), tetepathine(3), kaempferol(4), 4'-methylkaempferol(5),4',7-dimethylkaempferol (6), hexacosyl-3-caffeate(7), ferulic acid(8) and 3-methoxyl methyl gallate(9).

Conclusion: Compounds 1-3,7 and 8 are isolated from this plant for the first time, compounds 1-3,7 are isolated from Tamarix genus for the first time.

Rationale: Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) bloodstream infections are a severe complication resulting from granulocyte deficiency following chemotherapy for hematologic malignancies and have a high mortality rate. However, reports of disseminated organ infections secondary to bloodstream infections are rare.

Patient Concerns And Diagnoses: We report 2 cases of patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who both developed CRKP bloodstream infections during the granulocyte deficiency stage following chemotherapy, with 1 case of secondary bacterial liver abscess and 1 case of secondary septic arthritis.

A prolific multi-product sesterterpene synthase CbTPS1 is characterized from the medicinal Brassicaceae plant Capsella bursa-pastoris. Twenty different sesterterpenes including 16 undescribed compounds, possessing 10 different mono-/di-/tri-/tetra-/penta-carbocyclic skeletons, including the unique 15-membered macrocyclic and 24(15→14)-abeo-capbuane scaffolds, are isolated and structurally elucidated from engineered Escherichia coli strains expressing CbTPS1. Site-directed mutagenesis assisted by molecular dynamics simulations resulted in the variant L354M with up to 13.

Culture-dependent and -independent studies have provided access to symbiont genes and the functions they play for host sponges. Thus, this work investigates the diversity, presence of genes of pharmacological interest, biological activities and metabolome of the bacteria isolated from the sponges Aplysina caissara and Aplysina fulva collected on the southwestern Atlantic Coast. The genes for Polyketide Synthases types I and II and Nonribosomal Peptide Synthetases were screened in more than 200 bacterial strains obtained, from which around 40% were putatively novel.

Mixtures of multiple surfactants that have superior performance to the individual components are highly sought-after commercially. Mixtures with a reduced Krafft point () are particularly useful as they enable applications at lower temperatures. Such an example is the soap maker's eutectic: the mixture of sodium laurate (NaL) and sodium oleate (NaOl).
