Aim: The objective of the present study was to estimate the influence of the driven gait orthosis Lokomat on the functional mobility in the post-stroke hemiparethic patients and to elucidate the mechanisms underlying the improvement of functional mobility after the treatment.
Materials And Methods: The study included 141patients presenting with post-stroke hemiparesis of the mean duration 12.00 [3.0; 14.5] months. The patients of the experimental group (n = 100) completed the robot-assisted training course, those of the control group (n = 41) were given conventional gait training therapy under the guidance of a specialist in therapeutic physical training. The results of the treatment were evaluated using the following clinical scales: Fugl-Meyer assessment scale, Modified Ashworth scale and Perry mobility scale. Step symmetry, intra- and inter-joint kinematics were measured using the 3D gait videoanalysis system before and after the treatment course.
Results: The study has demonstrated a decrease of step asymmetry, the improvement of kinematic gait parameters (hip flexion/extension and hip abduction/adduction amplitudes, hip abduction/ adduction and knee flexion/extension torque amplitudes) as well as inter- and intrajoint dynamic interactions. It is concluded that these changes can be the main causes behind the enhancement of the functional mobility of walking under the influence of training with the use of the driven gait orthosis Lokomat.

The advancement of photocatalytic technology for solar-driven hydrogen (H2) production remains hindered by several challenges in developing efficient photocatalysts. A key issue is the rapid recombination of charge carriers, which significantly limits the light-harvesting ability of materials like BiOCl and Cu2SnS3 quantum dots (CTS QDs), despite the faster charge mobility and quantum confinement effect, respectively. Herein, a BiOCl/CTS (BCTS) heterostructure was synthesized by loading CTS QDs onto BiOCl 2D nanosheets (NSs), that demonstrated excellent photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation.

Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1) is a multifunctional endocytic receptor whose dysfunction is linked to developmental dysplasia of the hip, osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. Our work addresses the critical question of how these skeletal pathologies emerge. Here, we show the abundant expression of LRP1 in skeletal progenitor cells at mouse embryonic stage E10.

Nuclear export protein (NEP) of the influenza A virus, being one of the key components of the virus life cycle, is a promising model for studying characteristics of formation of amyloids by viral proteins. Using atomic force microscopy, comparative study of aggregation properties of the recombinant NEP variants, including the protein of natural structure, as well as modified variants with N- and C-terminal affinity His-tags, was carried out. All protein variants under physiological conditions are capable of forming aggregates of various morphologies: micelle-like nanoparticles, flexible protofibrils, rigid amyloid fibrils, etc.

The interaction between dissolved organic matter (DOM) and ferrihydrite (Fh) is a crucial process to control the environmental behavior of heavy metals (HMs) in soil environments, with DOM playing a particularly strong role in HMs fate. Since chemical properties of DOM vary based on different soil parent materials, the underlying impact of DOM-Fh associations on HMs binding remains unclear. This study systematically investigated the interactions between DOM from three soil parent materials (fluvial alluvium: FDOM, sand-shale: SDOM and granite: GDOM) and Fh, and meanwhile understand their effects on the environmental behavior of Cd and Pb under various environmental conditions.

Background: Back pain is a common but often underestimated symptom of patients with MS that can negatively influence their quality of life. However there are only limited number of studies comparing the effect of different types of exercise and use of telerehabilitation on back pain in MS. Therefore, the aim of the study is to compare whether telerehabilitation alone is as effective as conventional outpatient physiotherapy followed by online exercise.
