After the sanitary disaster caused by the first months of the conflict, the Health service of the French armies undertook a true revolution. By 1918, it had become the most efficient of all the opposing armies. At the end of 1914, through the spacing out of the evacuating hospitals within the zone of the armies, the most efficient teams were placed as close as possible to the front. Injured soldiers were categorized at every step of the chain. Technical progress, especially in war surgery, pushed medicine into the moderne era.

A novel fluorescent probe (E)-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-((pyrene-1-ylmethylene) amino)propanoic acid (PyT) was developed for the 'turn-on' detection of amoxicillin(AM), residues. The PyT molecule was developed by a simple condensation reaction between a biologically important tyrosine amino acid and pyrene carboxaldehyde. The small fluorophore molecule has spectacular photoluminescence properties such as large stock shift, high photostability, selectivity and sensitivity toward the analytes.

Matrix imaging paves the way towards a next revolution in wave physics. Based on the response matrix recorded between a set of sensors, it enables an optimized compensation of aberration phenomena and multiple scattering events that usually drastically hinder the focusing process in heterogeneous media. Although it gave rise to spectacular results in optical microscopy or seismic imaging, the success of matrix imaging has been so far relatively limited with ultrasonic waves because wave control is generally only performed with a linear array of transducers.

Dense non-Brownian suspensions exhibit a spectacular and abrupt drop in viscosity under change of shear direction, as revealed by shear inversions (reversals) or orthogonal superposition. Here, we introduce an experimental setup to systematically explore their response to shear rotations, where one suddenly rotates the principal axes of shear by an angle θ, and measure the shear stresses with a biaxial force sensor. Our measurements confirm the genericness of the transient decrease of the resistance to shear under unsteady conditions.
