Here I discuss: (1) historical precedents that have resulted in comparative psychologists accepting the two-action method as the "gold standard" in laboratory investigations of imitation learning, (2) evidence suggesting that the two-action procedure may not be adequate to answer questions concerning the role of imitation in the development of traditional behaviors of animals living in natural habitat, and (3) an alternative approach to the laboratory study of imitation that might increase the relevance of laboratory studies of imitation to the work of behavioral ecologists/primatologists interested in animal traditions and their relationship to human cumulative culture. This article is part of a Special Issue entitled: Tribute to Tom Zentall.

Breast cancer remains the leading cause of mortality among women with cancer. This article delves into the intricate relationship between breast cancer and cancer stem cells (CSCs), emphasizing advanced methods for their identification and isolation. The key isolation techniques, such as the mammosphere formation assay, surface marker identification, Side Population assay, and Aldehyde Dehydrogenase assay, are critically examined.

Nucleotide-binding and leucine-rich repeat (NLR) proteins are essential intracellular immune receptors in both animal and plant kingdoms. Sensing of pathogen-derived signals induces oligomerization of NLR proteins, culminating in the formation of higher-order protein complexes known as resistosomes in plants. The NLR resistosomes play a pivotal role in mediating the plant immune response against invading pathogens.

The growing population of older adults emphasizes the need to develop interventions that prevent or delay some of the cognitive decline that accompanies aging. In particular, as memory impairment is the foremost cognitive deficit affecting older adults, it is vital to develop interventions that improve memory function. This study addressed the problem of false memories in aging by training older adults to use details of past events during memory retrieval to distinguish targets from related lures.

As the third largest class of dyes in the world, triphenylmethane dyes are widely applied in colorimetric sensing. However, triphenylmethane dyes are commonly nonfluorescent, which limits their sensing applications. It is worthwhile to study the fluorescence off/on control of triphenylmethane dyes and promote the applications of triphenylmethane dyes in sensing technology.
