Background: CRMO is characterized by chronic bone pain of recurrent nature. The onset is usually at the beginning of the second decade of life. Bony lesions may be visible on radiographs, although sometimes a CT or MRI scan is necessary to visualise them. The aim of study was analyse symptoms, diagnostic difficulties and results of accessory investigations in patients suffering from CRMO.
Material And Methods: Medical records of 42 patients with CRMO were analysed to assess: age at onset of the disease, symptoms reported, location of lesions and abnormalities in laboratory and imaging studies.
Results: The medical records of 42 children, including 16 boys (38%) and 26 girls (62%), were analysed. The median age at onset was 10.5 years. The first symptom was bone pain in 34 patients (81%), with the remaining 8 (19%) presenting with widened bone contour in the absence of pain. Initially, only 5 (12%) subjects had multiple foci, whereas the vast majority (88%) presented with a single lesion. During exacerbations, osteocalcin levels were significantly elevated, increasing to a mean of 34 ng/ml (max. 68, min.14.6) against a reference upper limit of 13.7 ng/ml. Diagnostic difficulties and complications were found in 18 children.
Conclusions: 1. Familiarity with CRMO in orthopaedic clinical practice is indispensable in differential diagnosis with other bone diseases, including those suggestive of malignancy. 2. Correctly diagnosed CRMO is managed conservatively as a treatment of choice.

Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) has insidious clinical symptoms, and only a few patients suffer from lower limb swelling, tenderness and dorsal flexion pain. We aimed to explore the ultrasonographic features and risk factors of postoperative lower limb DVT in patients with lower limb fractures. Ninety patients with lower limb fractures admitted from January 1st, 2021 to June 30th, 2023 were selected.

Fractures of the thoracic (Th) and lumbar (L) vertebrae are among the most frequent fracture entities in Germany and particularly affect the thoracolumbar junction (TLJ; Th11-L2). Based on expert recommendations and consensus meetings, the thoracolumbar AOSpine injury score was established for patients with healthy bone and the osteoporotic fracture (OF) score for geriatric patients with the respective classifications for treatment decisions. In both cohorts, the treatment decision is based on the fracture morphology, neurological status and patient-specific contextual factors.

Background: Few studies reported the long-term clinical outcomes and joint degeneration of patients with chronic lateral ankle instability (CLAI) and small osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLTs) following simultaneous open modified Broström-Gould (MBG) surgery and arthroscopic bone marrow stimulation (BMS). The purpose of this study was to study the long-term results of patients after BMS and BMG surgery, and to further evaluate the potential effect of OLT size on postoperative results.
Methods: In this retrospective study, 110 CLAI patients were divided into 57 patients with OLTs (including 24 patients having combined small osteochondral lesions of the tibial plafond) receiving simultaneous BMS and MBG surgeries (BMS+MBG group), and 53 patients without OLTs receiving isolated open MBG surgery (MBG group).

Summary: Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is a genetic disorder due to pathological variants in ALPL, the gene encoding tissue-nonspecific alkaline phosphatase (ALP). HPP is typically associated with bone-related symptoms, such as bone deformity, fractures and bone pain in children, but can appear in adults with symptoms resembling arthritis. A 22-year-old male experienced repeated and severe sudden attacks of joint pain in the elbows and knees.

Osteopetrosis is a rare genetic disorder that leads to increased bone density and fragility due to dysfunctional osteoclasts, which can result in narrowed bone marrow spaces, hardened cartilage, and brittle bones. This condition frequently coexists with osteoarthritis among affected individuals. When osteoarthritis results in significant pain and impairs function, surgical interventions such as total joint arthroplasty may be recommended, although these procedures come with a unique set of surgical and recovery-related hurdles.
