A series of indolinone-based compounds bearing benzylpyridinium moiety was designed as dual-binding inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase (AChE). The target compounds 3a-u were synthesized by condensation of oxindole and pyridin-4-carbalehyde, and subsequent N-benzylation. The anti-cholinesterase activity evaluation of synthesized compounds revealed that most of them had very potent inhibitory activity against AChE, superior to standard drug donepezil. Particularly, 2-chlorobenzyl derivative 3c was the most potent compound against AChE with IC50 value of 0.44 nM, being 32-fold more potent than donepezil. Also, most of compounds were more potent than standard drug donepezil against butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE). Docking study revealed that the hydrophobic aromatic part (indoline) of representative compound 3c binds to the PAS and the N-benzylpyridinium residue binds to the CAS of AChE.

Background: Curcumin is a polyphenolic compound derived from the food spice turmeric that has received interest from the medical and scientific world for its role in the management of several conditions. Clinical studies, in humans, have shown that ingested Curcumin is safe even at high doses (12 g/day), but it has poor bioavailability primarily due to poor absorption and rapid metabolism and elimination. Several strategies have been implemented to improve the bioavailability of Curcumin, for example, the combination of piperine in a complex with Curcumin, or the usage of formulations with phospholipid or liposomal complexes.

Unlabelled: Tuberculosis (TB) can affect any organ, and at times more than one organ in any sequence, in which case it is referred to as disseminated tuberculosis (DTB). We report a patient who presented primarily for psychiatric symptoms of three months' duration, which later turned out to be a case of DTB involving the central nervous system as well as the spine and lungs.
Case Presentation: An elderly lady with subacute onset and worsening behavioural changes of three months' duration was referred for exclusion of organic brain disease.

This review aims to summarize and evaluate the latest clinical evidence and mechanistic studies regarding acupuncture for the treatment of allergic rhinitis AR. Compared with traditional medical treatment, acupuncture treatment of allergic rhinitis has fewer side effects and drug dependence, especially for those patients who do not respond well to medical treatment, acupuncture treatment has become a new hope. By analyzing results from RCTs, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses, the significant effectiveness of acupuncture in improving AR symptoms is clarified.
